The Monarchs opened their stadium in Herriman yesterday. If you'll remember, it was originally planned for the Fairpark but Dell Loy Hansen rescinded the agreement to build there after the state failed to extend the lease to use the fairgrounds for the next 40 years. It's a good reminder of how the legislature continually fucks over Salt Lake City, even if unintentionally.

I'm still pretty confused about the Inland Port bill. On the surface, it sounds like another one of those situations, but buzz on this thread seemed to indicate that SLC had been dragging their feet.

This forum is running on a version of vbulliton that has been outdated for like 4 years. I don’t think the owners care any more. They said they were going to add mobile support about 4-5 years ago... never happened. I’ve noticed a lot of problems with slow loading lately to. I really wish somone would update and maintain the site. :/

The board has had the same layout since I joined in 2006. Some improvements could be made but I honestly don't mind it.

The steel yard at SME off of the Mountain View Corridor is absolutely full of I beams. I sure hope a lot of that steel is destine for buildings here in Utah. Would anyone know where the steel comes from for most of our projects? I'll have to look into SME and see what they do with the steel? Do they coat it? Modify it and customize it?

Hmm, from the curbside Liberty Crest actually looks pretty cool. Like the wood treatment.

Just imaging this view with Boyer's residential tower and Tower 8 next to Harmons. And I suppose Regent Hotel too.

I think Cowboy Partners have improved in the last several years and their Liberty Crest, BLVD and Gateway get more criticism than is warranted. The materials they use are solid and get better with each "Liberty". My biggest critique is the lack of retail, which for me is huge, but most developments regrettably are not doing that so they don't stand out in that respect.

They're saying the "Hatch Center" will occupy a "parking lot on South Temple" -- do we know where exactly this will be?

(there's a rendering with the story -- not super exciting) (and depending on your political views, kinda gross)

it's going on the parking lot directly across the street to the east of the Wall Mansion (now known as Thomas Monson center)

Has anyone else seen the new Lagoon commercials? They show oversized Lagoon rides and games plopped in various Utah locations. I took these two pictures off of my TV that show downtown. I like how the Cannibal tower is basically in the spot of the proposed Regent Hotel, although things are not to scale and they put a few other buildings behind it, like the Capital that are misplaced. Still, I think it looks pretty cool.

Actually, now that I look at the mountain, I don't think they put Cannibal in downtown, I think they dropped various downtown buildings onto a picture of Farmington

Almost any development is better than a parking lot. That said, this is a much better design choice than a few of the choices made for S. Temple over the last few decades.

The lagoon photo with the building and mountains behind looks like the top of 27th street in Ogden. If that’s the case it would be bizarre. It could be Farmington canyon but I don’t think so. Pointless I know but I think I’m right

Should build the Hatch Center at the dump where it belongs.
