It s sad to see the height reduced in one venderbilt tower
While we lost a 100', considering its bulk (ESB bulk essentially) and that its essentially 432 Park height to the spire, I don't think we will really cry over the height reduction. Once we see how much a shorter, yet bulky tower like 30 Hudson stands out, a difference of 100' will be the last thing to worry about.
We still have plenty of towers to look forward to. Just check the front page of this super tall compilation to find out.

We all would, but any tower approaching ~1,300ft/400m to roof is massive in my book.
I'm pretty sure that in the near future we'll see some very bold proposals, even taller than CPT. For now, just sit back and enjoy the (supertall) show.
The Financial District’s latest planned supertall is officially moving forward after the development team held a groundbreaking ceremony at the construction site, at 45 Broad Street, Wednesday morning.
The 1,115-foot tower is being developed in a joint venture by Madison Equities, Chinese real estate firm Gemdale, and Italian real estate company, the Pizzarotti Group.
The heart of Nordstrom’s Manhattan flagship is 225 West 57th Street. It will have two levels below ground and five levels above at the base of Extell Development Co.’s Central Park Tower, which will be the world’s tallest residential building at 1,550 feet high, with a spire reaching another 200 feet.
Holy cow, 45 Broad looks fantastic, this is like living through 1920's and early 30's NYC with these beautiful new towers and not just generic glass schlock, actual architectural merit to these new supertalls.

I sure hope the spire is back. If you're gonna build to those heights, your building becomes an instant landmark on the skyline permanently. So if you're gonna be up there make it look good. We're getting too many flat tops going on.
In June 2012, Extell announced its plans to build its newest landmark along Manhattan’s premier 57th Street corridor. Rising over 1,550 feet above Manhattan, Central Park Tower will be the tallest residential tower in the Western Hemisphere. The building will include ultra-luxury condominium residences and dynamic amenity spaces, as well as a 285,000 square-foot Nordstrom department store. This new 7-story retail space will be Nordstrom’s flagship location in New York City.
