Happy 2015 all. There is a new article out about the Wilshire Grand and the current construction. It has all types of info including the current steel construction.

Taken yesterday 2014; this photo was taken last year! That was a lame joke but steel is now above ground level on the Wilshire side.

This tower is huge. That core for example is the size of some skyscrapers in its dimensions. Moving pretty fast given its size.

It's definitely going to be a wide tower, probably taking a lot of people by surprise. The Wilshire was always planned on being a major tower though not a supertall dingy.

Great to see steal going up!

Cool diagram! Just some info here and numbers. The WG would appear taller from this angle for several reasons. It is closer to the camera and the WG lobby is 280' MSL. The pool level at the top of the blue here is 834' above that. The 858' AON buildings lobby is 275' MSL The white stripe up top is 25' tall. The WG pool is about Equal to the bottom of the AON sign.

Steel erection will continue North and West for several levels before South and East catch up. After that, the steel will go up floor by floor uniformly. As to why we need our friend SLJR who is involved on the structural steel team to answer that question.
