Wow, I'd never seen the GAP HQ before but it looks to me like Stern was at least somewhat inspired by the US Customs House here in Philadelphia. The resemblance is a bit uncanny.

Wow, that's a great catch. I have no doubt that Stern was influenced by the customs house since he has modeled his buildings off of old ones he admires. Maybe it's a stretch, but I always thought that his Comcast Center was influenced by the Transamerica Pyramid:

He's created a little East-West dialogue.

I agree with the comcast-trans american pyramid comparisson, I always felt/thought they were similar, no where near as identical as the custom's building and the GAP HQ tho. But the way you have the wings on the comcast are reminiscent of the pyramid.

Yeah, the Customs House is a fantastic piece of Colonial revival with Art Deco flourish. It's in Old City, on Chestnut Street between 2nd and 3rd.

There was a crane set up on the 1800 block of Walnut St. last night (the block was closed to traffic), and it was removing bins of what looked like some sort of construction debris from the building. The plywood is starting to come off of the penthouse as well.

I heard we are getting a new italian restaurant in the ground level space of 10 Ritt. Anyone heard additional news on this? You'd think it would have to be pretty nice given its location.
