The Base

Why do we have to wait until 2013 to see glass on the base? I thought the tower was opening in 2013? Also, when will the spire be placed On? Directly after the roof? If so, when>

Probably early 2013. The tower isn't done till April 2013, and the mast might be put up somewhere in mid to late 2012 after the topping off of the roof in early 2012.

When will skyscraperpage.com declare the FT "topped out," at roof height or once the spire is up?

Once it tops out. That would be early 2012. Not long now. Wait till March.

That would probably take even longer. Maybe mid to late 2012. The building would be topped off by then.

I just can't wait for this building to be topped-off (spire included).. Because those few months it's going to tell us how tall it is and what we can expect.

I've been waiting for a that one wtc picture that elicits what the old towers did with their overwhelming height. The pictures above are the the first ones to do so. I know it never left but I feel like New York is back....
