You can really see the texture they used on the building. Very unique.

I really like the facade, looks like marble. But it isn't, think it's polished cement slabs.

I made a point of driving past this on my way to work this morning. It looks great all lit up.

I had my doubts when they were building it and I do think the original renders were better, but the finished product is pretty decent. It'll look much better when the condo next door and the Mac building across the street are finished. It needs friends.

I don't mind the lighting but on the heels of Staybridge's clubby uplighting the Homewood could stand to carve out its own aesthetic.

As well, the steps to the Bay Street entrance, while leading to what seems to be a secondary entrance, are ill-proportioned IMHO, and the slate deck a bit naked. Presumably will get another look when the weather warms.

They nailed the interior, but absolutely fell flat on exterior aesthetics.

Mt. Allison is using the Homewood Suites as their alumni headquarters for the Mitchell Bowl against Mac. Its nice to see a New hotel downtown being able to host these type of events. Traditionally it has always been the Sheraton and Crown Plaza. Now we have another large scale hotel. Good for the dowtown! I've heard from one Mt A alumnist who says one of the events already has almost 600 registered guests. Apparently there is a sizeable MT A alumini population in the GTA. Impressive for a small Atlantic school.

Accommodations
The Homewood Suites by Hilton will be Mountie Pride Headquarters for the Mitchell Bowl. A block of rooms has been set aside for Mount Allison alumni, fans, and family. The hotel offers a complimentary hot breakfast buffet daily for all overnight guests.

It really would have looked like a modern interpretation of the Royal Connaught.

There really aren't any design differences other than finish colours.

I really like this building. I'm not a fan of all glass buildings so these type of buildings are something that I enjoy.

Pictures by me.

Took the Mrs. here for a "getaway night" and it really is nice inside. The room looked great, had a lot of quality amenities, and I could imagine staying in one of these rooms for an extended business trip.

I have stayed here a number of times. The rooms are indeed nice and definitely meet or exceed Homewood Suites' brand standards.

While not an issue during the pandemic, I find the underground parking a bit tight and there are not enough spaces when they are full. I also wonder if this was a Homewood Suites from the initial design stage. The pool is incredibly tiny even compared to a normal HS pool and appears to have been dropped in randomly behind the front desk shrinking the space that they have. Also, while I have been to numerous HS, this is the only one to have an actual bar in the restaurant.

All said, this is a good hotel and I look forward to my next stay.

They are quite tight. Most of the other cars had been parked in middle spots and it was a squeeze getting in or out of my small hatchback, even though I parked next to a small car. Minor issue, though I suspect many owners of new condos face the same thing.

I have to wonder if this was built with future condo conversion as a potential option. It would not be hard to do that, especially for some of the larger units.
