I don't expect that they will give us anything. There's a reason they haven't released the information yet, and they'll do so when they are good and ready. But it doesn't hurt him to try. I used to request and receive renderings from the Trump Organization, but nothing that was unreleased.

$5 says this thread adds at least 5 pages of posts before anything of substance is released.

Welcome to the recession, where everything is slowed down and rumors make up most threads nowadays. This thread is different, but the secrecy amounts to the same effect, so meh.

It doesn't help quell the curiosity that this one is under construction now. Add to that the fact that it's one of the 3 tallest buildings under construction in the country (either # 2 or 3), and sprinkle it with Gary Barnett's own promise that it will be “one of the greatest buildings in the last 50 years”, and it's understandable that people want to know what's getting built.

Agreed, this along with MOMA Tower and 56 Leonard, when completed (knock on wood) will offer a paradigm shift in the way developers think. The mindset will be more reminiscent of 1920s NY when builders wanted signature towers to their name. People may hate him but Bruce Ratner is a guy we ought to thank for ushering the 'arms race' as it were for great architecture in the New York high rise construction community. Now only if the Moma tower hadn't had 250 ft lopped off... but to be honest, a pair of possible 1000 footers in midtown not to mention Hudson Yards, the Libeskind proposal which is at or near 1000 feet, and others... good stuff. Exceptional towers are becoming the norm and other developers will need to follow suit to nab big tenant blocks.

I was thinking the same thing, with the proximity of this tower to the Tower Verre, not to mention Extell planning a large tower down the block. There's a similar "race" Downtown with the Beekman/Park Place/Leonard Street towers trying to claim a piece of the skyline. It's a race Beekman is winning at the moment. This one, meanwhile, has the jump on Tower Verre.

Extell eyes Oman loan for Riverside Center

By LOIS WEISS
March 24, 2010

Newly approved plans filed with the Building Department by local architects SLCE show a 73-story tower rising to 953 feet. There will be a garage for 63 cars, retail on the ground and 20 stories for a hotel with meeting rooms and a ballroom.

Starting at the 21st floor the building turns residential, with a lounge, screening room, fitness center and other amenities. In the new version, set-back roofs are enclosed and some single-story apartments have been changed to duplexes. The highest residential floor, 72, only will have half an apartment, with the entire 71st floor hosting the rest of the apartment. Barnett said it definitely won't be his next abode. "I can't afford it," he laughed. The mechanics and elevator will take the building to a 75th-floor roof.

Barnett, who also just won the Carlton House, hopes to parlay the new permit into a finalized hotel agreement and more construction financing to keep the trades employed.

What's the Carlton house? If the building is approved were renderings already made or is that next?

To be honest I don't care as long as it gets built. Releasing renderings while satiating our appetite here at SSP can only stoke the flames of already uppity and powerful NIMBY community boards.

NIMBYs only have power when something needs approval. This tower doesn't need any approvals. According to the changes in building documents, this tower has only recently been "finalized", despite what Extell has been saying. Still, a rendering wouldn't hurt.

Judging by what the architect has done, we will not being a glass box (I hope). Something with substance and orginality.

SSC is wrong. The website they're looking at hasn't been updated in 3 years, and that height was listed on the website back before there were any public announcements on height or design.

The official announced height is 1082 feet.

nobody is wrong, ssc is using the ctbuh information where the tower's height is 1004ft. but it really doesn't matter, because we all know it will be a supertall. the 1082ft you are referring to is the height from the le figaro article. also curbed.com mentioned in an article that the tower has gained 2 floors, so in total 75 floors. as long as we don't have any "safe" proof of the final height, i'm fine with the stated height here on ssp.
