On the other side, if you're refering to the brackets potruding off the spadrel beams, they're ment to support the curtain wall. These holders usually get embedded after metal deck and shear stud welding is complete, not sure though why they got added before.

Once the window washing machine is done the glass will be cleaned and we can see One World Trade Center in all her glory.

No need to wait, just hoist a bit of machinery and scaffolding to any of the lower uncladded floors and do the job.

I don't think the mechanical floor plates were directly connected to the exterior columns, much like the ones in the base(I think there is another air plenum for the air vents at the top of the tower) so it looks like they've prefabricated the steel with the cladding brackets already mounted on.

Right on! The louver walls that will form the plenum are separated from the curtain wall by 4 feet. There's a final plenum located between floor 103 and the roof, louver walls for this plenum will not stop at roof slab but will extend just a few feet shy below the parapet.

Actually, I think they work more like electrical fuses for steel structures. By failing at their (the scallop's) design failure load, the scallops ensure that the high loads don't transfer to other parts of the steel structure.

But everything else you said is essentially correct.

Part of me thinks this would be a kind of dream job, but another part of me says HOLY CRAP! I wonder who the next Roko Camaj (RIP) will be?

Not to mention - the ENTIRE thing is glass!! That's a LOT more glass to wash this time around.

I agree... I couldn't do a job like that. You have to have serious guts to want to do this for a living! I admire Alan and the other people on supertall construction crews who help to build supertalls for a living.

11,311 panels or 829,317.12 square feet of glazing, not including the podium.
edit: Podium's total glazing area will be 95,112 square feet.

Crane removal

It would be really awesome to get a HQ video maybe HD of the crane removal for WTC1. Maybe from a few vantage points. Anybody that has a good vantage point, and a good camera, Please PLEASE PLEASE capture a video and post it. You'll make a lot of people happy, as this was a hot topic about 1000 pages ago

We have 2 more jumps right? and then they remove the cranes?

Yaaaay photos from today! Was crazy windy, got plenty of dust and other fun things thrown in my face and at my camera but it was well worth it. First time to the Memorial for me as well, I almost lost it when i first entered, it was very surreal.

Please do not repost or use without my permission, and thank you.
