that would be a breathtaking building along East Burnside. It looks a little big for the area as it is right now, but hopefully infill and the Bridgehead would fill it in some more. And for whatever nits i may want to pick with the building, i would rather have them be for something daring than for something bland and boring. where is this along the road to construction?

^^ pdxstreetcar, you're thinking of the building Works has designed for a lot adjacent to the Morrison bridge on the east side.

^ No, it's a tiny empty lot on SE 6th and Burnside right behind the plaid pantry on Grand.

Since all agree this is a nice building, I bet it gets trashed in design review.

No way. This is just the type of stuff our design review loves to see. Most of the stuff that gets trashed is because it's too big or bulky (Ladd Tower), causes the destruction of historic architecture (Ladd Tower), infringes on park or public space (Ladd Tower), has FARs based on polemical numbers (The Allegro), or is located in a neighborhood where the locals have little appreciation for good design and wish that everything our talented young architects produced looked as if it were designed and built in the 1920s. (See Apple Store, anything proposed on Mississippi Ave, NW Portland, and even north of the Fremont Bridge. They'll love it. There's no one in that neighborhood to piss off.

Keep in mind the location this is getting built in. There are not that many people that live over in that part of downtown that would want to stop something like this. For that part of the city, a project like this, is seen as something that will bring new attention to the area and breath some new life into it. I think it will do just fine in the review......Ladd on the other hand will need the church to provide an act from god to get that tower built.
