It is amazing how these beams will transfer much of the gravitational weight to the core of this building. This is what makes engineering so fascinating.

How are they supposed to jump the core forms, with the horizontal beams going through?
I thought they'd wait until they'd jumped the core another level.

^^Thanks guys. "Shot with an iPhone6" believe it or not.

I figured those horizontal beams might just be temporary. You can see temporary 'come-along' cables as well. If the beams are permanent, the core forms can be easily broken down for the next jump.

To me they look kinda on the lightweight side to be bearing the huge load above them. Then again, I am used to the super-beefy steel we get here in California because of seismic codes.

Guys onsite say they are using grade 65 & grade 70 high-strength steel that's never been used in the western hemisphere, in order to accomplish the load transfer while keeping section shapes manageable. Stuff is coming from Luxembourg apparently.

Ran a quick Google search and found a cool article about the Luxemburg steel industry. They'll have to revise it to include 150

http://www.wort.lu/en/community/did-...88b46a8ce59713

Also, I was all giddy about the possibility of the newly arrived Favco M760D being one of the TCs that built 1WTC, but determined that it's not. SN #1166 and #1167 were used on the Freedom Tower. 150s SN is #1046.
