Agreed. They always stall when they get close to completing something. They could list their reasons why, but I'll bet it is at least in part psychological.

Does anyone know what happened to the warning beacon on top of the spire? It was working all last week and it has since stopped. Is it because of electrical work still being done or is there an issue?

I'm guessing that it's left open to allow them to load larger pieces of materials and equipment with the crane through the opening. I see no rush, I'm sure they aren't stalling, time is money. Besides it looks basically done. Now, the the W Hotel is painstaking to watch. Watching them build this is like watching paint dry. It hasn't been topped off yet.

The lifting Derrick is installed on top of Comcast over the past few days.

Expect to see the crane come down very soon.

Not sure what you mean as the W hotel has been moving steadily, if not quickly, once it got past the first 5 floors or so. The top floors it is on now are going a bit slower as they are atypical, but it is still making good progress.

I don't think I'll ever get the Minecraft and cellphone commentary out of my mind, but I like this well enough for the Lego creation that it is.

I'm actually starting to hope they just leave that section unfinished. That way you can have some drinks at the Four Seasons bar, then walk over and just urinate right out of the building from 50 stories up. They should advertise it. I mean where else in America (or the world) for that matter can you do something like that? All the marketing firms could mention that in addition to our status as a world heritage city.

this, taken from page 1, is the closest thing you'll find. None of the renders even show a hard change of color, but almost more like a gradient. The "lantern" part of the spine might appear a little longer here, so maybe what we see on the top actually should extend down to where the color changes?

Well they are going up with more glass this morning. Same color as below. Comcast and LF Driscoll are clearly pulling these delaying tactics just to annoy the Skyscraper Nerds. What other reason can there be?

^^ I was looking for some older renderings to substantiate your point and came across this earlier iteration of the design. I remember seeing this design but not the perspective of this rendering.

I'm not sure what to make of the top, but I like the rest of it. Maybe they can use this for the 3rd Comast tower.
