Oklahoma City at night - 50 Pics

Before anyone jumps in about the lack of people, these pictures were taken on Sunday night. There wasn't much going on at the time. There is a lot more pedestrian traffic now (usually) than there has been in decades, but we still have a long way to go.

Enjoy!

Where are all the people? J/K, I couldn't resist. I really like the lighting on the Devon tower. OKC does seem like a city on the rise, literally and figuratively.

Nice photos!

I visited OKC a little over a year ago and that was the first time in the downtown area in almost 30 years. There are certainly some suprices there, and I actually came there not much of an opinion but I didn't enjoy my visit. My wife and I both have family that moved there from LA many years ago. My wife also has friend she went to college with and stay after college after growing up in St Louis. We visited her and she loves living in OKC, we also like her neighborhood as it wasn't too far from downtown, and to my surprise it was a charming older well kept neighborhood.

The Devon tower is looking good, although it wasn't quite finished when we were there. Also I love the downtown park where the botanical gardens are.

OKC has some great nighttime lighting, and a nice collection of both historic and modern architecture/art...I also really like the Myriad Botanical Gardens and that the city is dismantling the Crosstown Expressway. I still hate the cheesy fake river they built through Bricktown, but that's just a personal preference. hahaha Lookin good OKC!

I really like all of the exterior lighting. It definitely can make a place feel more inviting. OKC seems to be setting the ground work if there was ever a huge back-to-the-city movement, downtown.

Last time I was in OKC, I was a kid in '96 a year or so after the bombing. It was an accidental vacation; our car had broken down right around downtown, and we had to stay the weekend. lol I still remember even months afterwards buildings blocks from the blast were still boarded up. I was really impressed by the downtown Botanical Gardens. We ended up hanging out at Lake Hefner for the rest of the day. All in all, it was a fairly interesting place, so I'd imagine it'd be quite a bit better, now.

I concure Devon is a beauty in blue and white. Night time pix, with good lighting, does accenuate details sometimes missed..

Nice shots! It's like 85% Youngstown, Ohio, 10% Omaha, Nebraska, 3% Houston Texas and 2% Hong Kong. Maybe.... I just pulled that out of my ass.

Btw just my opinion I believe Devon did for Oklahoma City what the IDS Tower did for Minneapolis back in 1973, great photos btw. I wish Denver could take a few cues from Oklahoma City on lighting...

Some cool photos. But seriously, where are all the people? What time of night were you taking these. It seems like there weren't even cars on the street. The only person I noticed wasn't a person at all, rather it was your shadow. I would have thought there would have been some night life in OKC.

^ first paragraph...

nice pics. devon looks great; it's interesting to consider that it's about the same height as bank of america in charlotte, and the next tallest is not much shorter than what clt's next tallest would have been 20 years ago. gives a good approximation for how much it would've stood out back then.
