Edmonton Setup

Now that you've had a chance to have both setups, such as a separate Edmonton section or Edmonton mixed in with AB/BC you would be better to decide.

There's no point to having a sub forum if we're going to be so angry when someone tries to make a new thread. If we're just going to keep it to the ones that are currently busy and add a few here and there every once and a while then there is so no point.

I prefer the subforum. I dislike threads created because 'it worked somewhere else'. Let it happen organically.

The skyscraper forum is open to forumers from all over the world. If Edmonton is going to be grouped with Kelowna, Victoria and other smaller Cities - very few people will be enticed to look at Edmonton's threads.
I would suggest a sub-form.
I dont know if it is because it would take away from C2E, but I do not believe it will. I dont think people are going to switch. SSP is set up in such a way that it hosts local forums from all over the world. As such, there is a much greater potential audience that those on C2E.

I come here for construction news, not to find out what kind of plastic garbage can works best. Keep the fluff over at C2E, I dont need to be searching through umpteen number of threads to find out whats new in the Edmonton construction scene.

Yeah I don't like the setup now. Unfortunately it's really the Edmonton forumers that are keeping the BC/AB forum alive anyways. But yes I agree, one large subforum will do.

But with a local setup there would be one construction section so you'd only have to visit that section and those that are interested in fluff would have the option to do so.

Just saying......

I hope the people voting have IP addresses IN Edmonton...hate to see skewed results.

I want the sub-forum but also am confused by what Cold is saying...what is "large"? I don't want a hodge podge of anything - and want some logical structure.

I think it'd be wise to have more of a off topic thread, or general, or 'of-interest' thread. I bounced around the idea of creating it when Calgary was in Alberta, but I don't know if anybody would be interested. It's a bit of a different issue but I think it'd be beneficial.

It would make the Construction thread more on topic of construction, architecture, design, etc. Then we have the transportation thread, Images of Edmonton, YEG thread, U of A thread, and a thread for everything else. If the demand rises later for more threads, then we can take the discussiong out of Edmonton Of Interest into a seperate thread.

I assume all the Edmonton-centric threads we created when we tried the subforum would be moved back. I didn't mind having different threads for different topics.

I understand, but thats the purpose Connect 2 Edmonton serves. This is Skyscraper Page. A website for folks interested in construction, architecture and skyscrapers. I believe the current situation Edmonton forumers have is working quite well. If someone wants off-topic discussion, there is Skybar. I dont think there is a need for a "Local" format similar to other Canadian cities. Thats just my thought on the issue.

So by the end of the week there will be one single Edmonton sub-forum.

I shall of course move all the Edmonton threads there that I can identify, some other mod will have to move the rest.
