Phoenix -- Usery Mountain Rec Area

Not far from Red Mountain Park is this place...Great place for viewing Cacti...

In the distance are the Superstition Mts, home of Lost Dutchman Park,
where I'm going next....

....that's about it for now. I'll add more later..

Nice photos. I've never been to Usery before, so thanks. When I hike in the city, I go to Squaw Peak (Piestewa Pk) or Camelback.

Beautiful.

These photos help illustrate to those less familiar with the area just how much natural, green vegetation actually exists in the deserts surrounding Phoenix. Where some other desert cities are encircled by land much more sparse and barren, Phoenix actually shares it's borders with a very complex ecosystem. The Sonoran Desert is beautiful, and unlike almost anywhere else in the world.

/\ I agree. I was going to post a sarcastic "Where's all the sand?" reply, but I didn't want some certain people to either start bitching or not get it.

I was out in Cave Creek near a Riparian habitat in the Sonoran Desert and I felt lucky to live in one of the most unique natural areas in the world.

Great pictures again!

And there are so many types of desert in Arizona, with their own look, and all beautiful.

^ Though it may be a little hotter, by the time summertime temps reach, for example 110 or so, hot is hot. I own a black car, and at the end of a very hot day, any difference is honestly irrelevant.
