I guess being from Los Angeles kind of makes this place even more strange.

Meh

Dubai is too generic looking IMO. Though tall & impressive considering the very short time span it was built, all of the buildings begin to look the same, kinda like Miami.

I agree, the Trump Tower is a major skyline altering piece, in a great way. It looks so clean in the mix.

sorry, I just reckon Shanghai shouldve been a contender for the top, not just NYC-HK.

My top 5:

1. Shanghai
2. HK
3. NYC
4. Chicago
5. Chongqing

CQ was never a fave, but then I saw it by night - its as futuristic as it gets, just blows you away:

It would be hard to get a consensus on this, it is such a matter of opinion. This is what I would go with though:

1) Shanghai
2) Sao Paulo
3) Chicago
4) New York
5) Hong Kong

I still think chicago has a way better skyline than Hong Kong, Honestly, what do you all see in Hong Kong's skyline, the pretty lights?

^You must be kidding. Sorry but i'm not biting.

Yellowboy, i'm not sure where you got your population stats for Hong Kong but your number of 15.8 million is about double the actual population. Every source i've ever seen has it's metro population at 7-8 million.

I'm also not sure why a few people mentioned Seattle and/or Vancouver since I didn't see anyone rank or include pictures of either city and as much as I love both cities (especially Vancouver), their skylines hardly rank amongst cities like New York, HK, and Chicago.

I also don't see how Sao Paulo can be taken seriously as a skyline contender unless one places all the emphasis on quantity over quality since SP doesn't even have a 600 footer.

These lists are always tough for me. The top three are no-brainers (and virtually interchangeable), so I created a three-way tie for first since it seems the angle each skyline is shot from decides which is best. After that things get a lot tougher. While Toronto isn't one of my favourite skylines, i'm surprised it hasn't made more lists.

1-NYC
1-HK
1-Chicago
4-Singapore
5-Melbourne

Since so many people have shots of my top three, I included shots of Singapore:

and Melbourne:

I grabbed these shots from here.
