Must have blown off. Guess the twisty ties aren't strong enough to keep it attached to the stake poles... Looks like Viking Fence was the contractor for the Independent crown, now they are using the left overs to fence in Block 185..

The two parcels straddling City Hall will eventually be redeveloped, IMHO. They’re vastly underutilized.

Key word is "eventually." It won't happen any time soon because Silicon Labs is in the process of a multi-million dollar Gensler remodel of both buildings. In fact they spent $400K on a video screen for the lobby in one of the buildings. The only screen bigger in Austin is the one at Memorial Stadium. But If the chip business goes south, I can see them selling one of the buildings in the future.

Didn't someone mention on this forum that those buildings have infrastructure that would allow a tower to be built on top of each one in the future?

I know those buildings are short and stubby but they are so nicely detailed compared to some of the newer stuff we see downtown - esp. the parking garage sections. I'd hate to see them go.

Don’t get to excited with the rapid progress. Ranger excavation moves quick, the upcoming site prep will take some time.

ATX Real Estate News confirmed today (thanks to a Brandywine quarterly report) that Google is leasing the whole building.

Here's their link to Brandywine's report. It's on page 10. I would feel better about this if Trammell Crow confirmed it. That report also says construction starts on 405 Colorado in the 1st Qtr., and basically says there is nothing planned right now for Broadmoor.

It's (almost) official about Google. And we have renderings from the Statesman.

The parking podium is going to be atrocious and the green features will be value engineered out of the final product.

That sure doesn't look like 589' to me... or is it just that the 360 is depicted as being taller in that rendering than it actually is?

That's a crazy looking building.

I'm less sold on it than I was.

The building is sweet; far, far from the typical glass boxes popping out of the ground. From what I heard a while back here's what we can probably expect as a timeline for this project:
- Excavation and site prep into 2019-Q4
- Construction out of the ground around 2020-Q1
- Finish out to begin about 2021-Q3
- Completion sometime 2022-Q1

It feels pretty weird to be thinking about projects being completed in 2022 already.

Love the top and dislike the base. At least hide the parking on the lake facing side please.

Is this the final design? Because these renderings match the old plans.

Post 574 shows two different buildings, and these renderings match the older one...

I like it, but the west and south facades really should have been switched. I'd rather have the tall side facing south, which will be more photogenic from the river. Plus, those terrace levels on the south side would complement Shoal Creek better by creating the illusion that the building stepped up out of the creek.

Either way, this is going to be our most iconic building.
