1 WTC will always stand out due to its height and overall size as well as its symbolism/icon status. 2 WTC will possibly always stand out depending what is built. That's ok. 1 and 2 are the only two towers that truly matter just as in the original complex. Nobody cared about the plaza buildings or even 7WTC and nobody will care that 3 and 4 may be overshadowed in some ways. They still look great.

The view of the WTC from Brooklyn is my favorite. They line up nicely, like signal bars in a cell phone.

cost per square foot

Is that $80/square foot per month? Or per year?
Thanks!

It is fine. People are just disappointed because a few nice features and some height were cut for cost saving, not aesthetic reasons. Now you have some idea why it catches some flack :-)

You need to see these buildings in person to truly appreciate them. Best skyline on the planet.

I only like it for the glass at the top, rest is an uninspired value engineered dogs dinner compared to the lacey beauty we were once promised. All in all, without having seen the first rendering, it is a mediocre modern corporate tower that is background building material for most, outside of the most avid modernists.

It still baffles me that people complain about the "blandness" of the complex but slobber over the original WTC and want it to be rebuilt.

Totally agreed. Architecturally, the new complex knocks the old one out of the water. I think that most people who say they prefer the original are just being nostalgic. And perhaps the original twins made for a more iconic skyline.

Plus, (this is really a personal opinion) the site just isn't appropriate for very radical architecture. It would just seem a bit inappropriate. This is part of why I dislike BIG's proposal. Downtown has always had a more refined, classy aura.
