Great pictures. It's nice to see the places from the mountain when you zoom in.

How did you pass on these the first time around?

Giants steel mills + Pizza Pizza -> Hamilton.

Despite being to Ontario many, many times I've spent very little time in Hamilton. It looks impressive for what it is, and it is really the only city like this in Canada. There are places like Thunder Bay, Trois-Rivières, Sydney, Saint John, maybe Nanaimo, but they all sort of stalled out as semi-towns. Current economic conditions aren't very kind to those cities.

Actually, it's HAMILTON - the opposite of Toronto. It's like saying Newark is New York.

this is a really fine collection... a lot of mood

I love obscure vista shots like this... I try to get shots like this all the time... I wonder... "has anybody ever noticed this before?"

this is totally awesome... love the almost-darkness of it

I love the smokestacks behind the skyline, the lonely guy staring out from his porch, the curly beard, and the rows of steep roofs

I was talking about the city in the backgrond, rather than the subject of the thread.

I missed the background in that picture. good thing I was wrong, or I would've never seen it. I was referring to this one:

Do you regularly make trips back to Hamilton or something?

Either way, these photos are gold, I enjoy seeing all these Hamilton ones because it is rare to find this grit in Canada. It's interesting seeing Canada's interpretation of Rust Belt in a major city.

Some very interesting comments, thanks!

I think these photos show some of the things that make Hamilton unique, I miss being able to photograph stuff like this. I can't get moods or subjects like this where I am now, so I have to go through old photos. I have so many Hamilton photos it's easy to overlook good ones. A lot of these ones were originally passed over because of graininess.

softee: I was wondering if anyone would notice!

Steely Dan: the thread title caught your attention, eh?
