I'm so used to the tiny jobsites (for the most part) in downtown Vancouver. This looks like something you would see in Toronto (in terms of scale). Can not wait to see this one rise.

There are lots of towers going up and a lot of retail (including a movie theater?) going in.. they're going to need it, regardless of being connected to the Brentwood Station.

Some of that pit is going to be underground retail too, however. P1 and P2 will have retail components, plus P4 will have garbage and other back of house facilities.

Oh Yes Brentwood is big! I meant the ones that I mentioned seemed to be as big as what's in Toronto. From what I can tell Toronto in general aren't any larger

W1 at Marine Drive Station by Concord Pacific also open for sale on Sept 26, interesting to see how the two compete?

1. This is the suburbs of Vancouver so I'm not sure why you're comparing downtown Toronto, downtown Vancouver and Burnaby..

2. Downtown Vancouver is already packed with other towers, cost of a small piece of occupant land in Vancouver is tremendous.

3. What do you even mean when you are referring to "I'm so used to the tiny jobsites" I've also lived in Toronto for a year and the land is much more different there, in Toronto it is much more sparse and flat, so it's much easier to build when it's not hilly which also affects where you can build. Also it takes 30 minutes just to get to the local supermarket in some parts of Toronto where as it's only 10-15 mins in Vancouver.

1- I am aware that this is a suburb. What does that have to do with anything? I made a statement relating to the size/scale of something and how it feels like a large Toronto project. I'm pretty sure there are no rules that I am aware of that prevent me from comparing things in one location to another?

2-Yes I know.

3-I dont even know how to answer your question here. I meant exactly what I said. "I'm so used to the tiny jobsites (for the most part) in downtown Vancouver". All those narrow small floorplate condo towers in downtown Vancouver....are well small, compared to this project, compared to many projects in Toronto as well. Why are you talking about supermarkets?

I feel like you are offended or something? (maybe I'm wrong) I'm not sure why though. I dont feel like I have said anything that is untrue.

I don't understand what you're trying to respond here.

I don't understand why this person is comparing oranges to apples.. So go ahead and compare projects in Toronto to Calgary or Winnipeg.. or Sao Paulo.. or Johannesburg..

I'm not sure if you understand what I wrote but I'm saying Toronto has more land to build and the supermarket example is just a comparison of the distance between communities. So due to the lack of land obviously you'll see a bunch of small projects in DT Vancouver.

There is no problem comparing the two cities (three cities) but what's the point when each city is different in it's own unique ways. I'm essentially saying economically and topographically among many other factors that each city is different. So your comparison is a fallacy.

This is a strange conversation (in my opinion). I'm fairly sure small floorplate slim condo towers are a direction the city pushes development. Its sort of what Vancouver is known for. As for me commenting on the immense size of this project, I feel I have the right to compare it to anywhere and anything I want. Toronto having more land does not make my statement false.

How about this? This project is huge. Much larger then most downtown Vancouver projects. Is this statement a fallacy? ......now if I were to say it reminds me a bit of the stantec construction site in Edmonton in size (which it does) Is it now a fallacy? Is it now apples to oranges? All I'm doing is comparing the scale of one thing to another, I never said one word about why or why not either place is/can build things of a certain size.....Its like you are adding some sort of subtext that isnt there.

Agreed. Hey, we'd better get back on the topic before the mods have to intervene.

They appeal to completely different segment of the market... W1 will appeal to Chinese buyers, while Brentwood will appeal to mostly local buyers

Agree W1 appeals to Chinese buyers, disagree Brentwood appeals to mostly local buyers only. Brentwood appeals to a wider audience ... local and Chinese buyers as well. While I waited in line to preview Brentwood tower 2 last year , the whole line up are dark hair people.... Chinese, middle East, East Indians.
