^^^ A bargin is an understatement!

Plan 55A has a lot of wasted space, but I like the other two plans. I wonder how many floors the penthouse suite is due to the smaller floor plates as you go higher.

Love teh prefab sections of column reinforcement they have. Also neat to see the jig that all the rebar bending happens on. It's the red trailer on the left side.

I'd love to put that big yellow crane section in my backyard . .

I imagine on some level it's very strange to be rich. I'm not saying I would mind trying it out, mind you.

Those are actually the buckets that will move concrete by crane from the trucks to where it's going to be placed in the structure.

ok concrete transport buckets - good information - thanks scalziand.

I like JR's post 2477 . .
That particular picture shows the sharp ferocity of the crown angles scraping the sky.
It also informs about the depth-relationships . . between the north and east faces . .
of two of the tripartite crown sections . .
It's a clear hard-edged representation of the tower's stark beauty.

at the bottom of Chris's post 2480 . . . (no beef about Chris) . .
there's one of those ubiquitous saccharine sweet renderings of the tripartite crown . .
being portrayed as some sort of vision of neapolitan ice cream . . softening the form.
Even the best sunset wouldn't so differentiate twilight color on the segments.
It's irksome . . Doesn't anybody else see that? . . It's probably me.

another musing about this location pops into the noggin . . just imagine CBS . .
(the famous squat "Black Rock" icon just to the southwest across the street) . .
if it was 2X as tall . . 80 stories instead of 40 . . Now that would be sizzling-hot modern-
ism . . on par with "Big John" . . & some other Giants of Modernism in Chicago . .
Of course Verre is even better than that . . thank you very much . .
but imagine the dark pair rising so close together . . Modern Midtown gravitas.

The city is gaga over this skyscraper

Quote:
Apartments at the MoMA Tower — Jean Nouvel’s first New York skyscraper in Midtown’s “billionaire’s district” — hit the market Friday and people are flipping for the Frenchman’s fabulous forms.

“The buzz surrounding this building has been extraordinary,” said Pam Liebman, CEO of the Corcoran Group, which is marketing the building. “It is one of the most architecturally significant buildings ever to be built in New York.”

The 82-story building at 53 W. 53rd St. — Nouvel’s first “supertall” building — will rise to 1,050 feet, the size of the Chrysler Building.

The first nine units hit the market Friday, ranging in price from $3.17 million for a modest one-bedroom to $50.9 million for a four-bedroom stunner.
Some of the full-floor apartments and duplexes have their own private elevators, and many of them have their own unique layouts.

That’s in part because of the building’s exterior design, which includes three jagged-edged tops and an elaborate exposed structural steel system of concrete beams that zigzags across its facade.

Building amenities include hotel-style services, like a cleaning staff.
There’s also a wine cellar, a playroom, a private screening room, an in-house dining room overlooking Central Park and a wellness center/gym that comes with a pool, gym, squash court and golf simulator.
