It is definitely "out of the box" for Philly, and you're right. The cladding is hopefully going to match the rendering more than what it is now.
.....OH, and one last thing, (without sounding too 1919ish) I wish it were taller!
At least it's not hideous, cheap-looking metal panels like Cecil Baker keeps putting on all his modern buildings. It may not turn out as good as the render, but as a whole, I like the building very much. If we're not willing to do simple elegant, all glass residential buildings with sophisticated shapes (like 111 Murray street in New York for example), this is a big improvement over a lot of what's going up.

Funny that you noticed that. The other day, I don't really remember which direction I was headed, because sometimes I take the Betsy Ross, as well, either coming or going.
I use both bridges, but anywaysss...
When I saw the Billboard in Orange for Halloween, I had an idea come to my head, If they MUST keep the Billboard, at least color co-ordinate it for the Holidays, etc.
Make it entertaining for the residents who will be residing there.

After all, like others have said (including me), blow the damn thing up!
But we know Billboards can't talk, right? City Wide? But they can convey a message in color and/or lights.

(Don't mind me, I have way too much time on my hands. Philly Fan ? NOT A WORD>>>

Why does this design give me the urge to eat Oreos?

You'll have to explain that one.

Is it me or does it seem like the exterior of this building hasn't changed in months (aside from small cladding progress here and there)?

The facade resembles stacks of Oreo cookies.

While it appears nothing has changed on the exterior, there has been major progress on the ground level structure as well as prepping the exterior for the cladding (that will hopefully go up quickly now that they have done the prep work). There have been small pieces installed over the entirety of the orange surface which (based on what I've seen thus far) will hold the insulation and be how the cladding is held to the structure.

On a separate note, there will be some sort of tour of the building this Friday, December 2nd from 6-9pm for First Friday. I'm planning on swinging by, so I'll be sure to report back on any updates

Awesome. See if you can find out if there's any word on the ground floor tenants? I heard a rumor that Race Street Café was pissed because a restaurant was going in. Hope that's true - we could use another spot in that area.

(Sorry, Race street Café)

Ages ago there'd been talk of a small-format grocery store in this building. Seems like a brilliant use given the total lack of such amenities in the neighborhood. It would make a killing in this location. That said, the current brochure shows the space divided into four, none of which being big enough for anything resembling a true grocer:

there is an upcoming ZBA hearing that addresses some of the new retail uses. Looks like there are two tenants expected initially. One is sit down eatery and the other is some sort of multi purpose retail tenant that will sell food, some clothing and other things.

I was walking around the area the other day and I noticed how intense the heat being reflected off the glass was. I was a good block away still, and with the mid-afternoon sun, I could physically feel the heat on my face reflecting off the glass.

While I generally think that low-e glass is good for energy savings, I think there needs to be a better compromise, whereby some of the thermal energy is absorbed by the glass (possibly dissipated between the panes?).

With the right reflection, you could theoretically melt snow from the glass.

Could be worse. I was expecting a drycleaner and a real estate office.

I was hoping for a cool bar/restaurant.

Note how the apartment rendering makes the billboard disappear.
