I was talking to a guy that works for the contractor that did the demo, JPC and he said they also had the foundation/basement contract. Permits have been issued for the foundation.

I am excited for this one to rise. It is across the street from my gym, which has a birds eye view of the site out the window of the lounge, so I watch the progress nearly every day. Hopefully, it helps initiate a revival of Broad. All the other projects that are supposed to be happening there are super slow getting started/completed. Hopefully SLS happens.

This is officially under construction. The first caisson was installed when I was by the site, and they were drilling for the second, which you can see laying there.

I'm a big fan of Pearl, they're doing a lot of nice projects in this area of the city. That's why I'm not worried about 19th and Chestnut seemingly making no progress. In a way it works out for them to hold off on that for a bit though, it a) allows Pearl to focus on finishing the Beacon and starting the Cambria, and b) allows the new mini-Target to get rapport with people who would go there without forcing people to come in awkwardly or not at all because of construction right above/next to it. Plus it's Rittenhouse, frankly it's hard to imagine a scenario where developing something there wouldn't be a good idea.

Any intel on what will happen to the buildings that are still standing? I believe there was speculation they would be demolished for a separate residential tower, but I don't think that's been confirmed.

They will be kept, renovated, and incorporated into the project as restaurant/retail space. Look at the renderings.

Question for those that know-how will these rectangular concrete blocks be used to supply the building?
I see little, if any, vertical rebar sticking out so how will the blocks attach to what goes on top?

reference the photos in posts 113 and 117. Both show what I think are spots where the bases of steel posts will be attached.

When I walked by yesterday, I believe the base of the crane was in place. If anyone is nearby, snap a pic and report back please!
