Here's my November 2017 list of Austin's tallest projects that are at least 150' tall or appear to have at least one building 150' tall or more based on available information. Two more buildings have been added to the list for the December update.

There are five status types:

U/C - Cement has been poured

Site Prep - Dirt is moving or utility work is underway

Site Demo - At least one structure on the site has been or is being demolished

Proposed - The project has been announced and/or had building permits filed

Planned - Less information is available than a proposed project, more visionary

Projects highlighted in green are underway with financing/funding in place. This can include projects with a status other than "U/C".

Projects highlighted in yellow have been completed during the current calendar year, and have been removed from the project count.

Several of these projects are stale. But I keep them on the list unless either a new proposal for the site is made or the developer sells the site without an approved site plan.

Just a slight correction on item #56:

The decommissioned Brackenridge Hospital site is not the same as the Brackenridge Tract, which is off of Lake Austin Blvd west of MoPac:

I'm betting someone who didn't know there were two Brackenridge properties in play might have a heart attack knowing "7 towers" were planned for the less urban location if they lived nearby it.

Austin ISD sets eyes on southside building for new headquarters

This will be cool to watch. I work in Domain 8, on the 12th floor, so I can take come pictures for you guys.

I definitely miss working downtown sometimes (for the views) but for the most part I'm over it. So many huge companies are moving to the Domain. It's becoming a real economic power, as opposed to just a mall.

The Domain is really looking good, and only getting better rapidly. Hopefully it will truly become a second "downtown".

The only things bothering me about it is that some of the nearby neighborhoods are pretty run down, and the area along Burnet Rd south to 183 is very shabby. I think the Burnet Rd corridor will eventually be much better aesthetically, though.

Speaking of the Burnet Rd corridor:

More high-rise homes, offices and shops set to go vertical near The Domain in Austin

Next year will be huge for Capella in Austin. The company is headed full tilt into the mixed-use sector, spanning from Leander to Smithville.

But the main event is likely the proposed office, retail and residential project envisioned for the southeast corner of West Braker Lane and Burnet Road.

Capella secured about three acres of highly coveted land behind the existing Discount Tire facility at 2623 W. Braker Lane. The company hired two notable names to manage the development process — Kimley-Horn engineering and Page, the Austin-founded architecture firm that recently delivered the new Dell Medical School at the University of Texas.

Buildout of the mixed-use project could easily top $200 million, Capella executives said. Plans are being finalized and will be submitted to the city soon.

Providing a highly amenitized plan is essential to success. As currently configured, the project will have 250,000 square feet of office space, more than 300 apartments that will be differentiated by design from other complexes in the area, and retail to support residents and employees.

Groundbreaking is projected by the end of 2018 with delivery likely in 2020.
