Trump Tower isn't quite as hideous as the Olympic Tower which replaced the iconic, deco Best & Co. store, but it comes close.

(unfortunately) could also do this all day long for buffalo, seeing as the city was pretty much gutted from 1950-1970...

CURRENT: Main Place tower

BEFORE: Erie County Savings Bank

WORSE While I dont hate the main place tower, it wasnt worth the sacrifice.

--

CURRENT: Rath Building

BEFORE: D.S Morgan Building

SAME Kind of on the fence with this one.

--

CURRENT: Buffalo Federal Courthouse

BEFORE:The Erlanger Building

BETTER the 1920s Erlanger building was just not unique/significant enough.

A few from DC. All WORSE. I wouldn't mind so much if the newer buildings were designed nicely, but they don't have an ounce of character.

I hated the old 2 columbus circle. Looked like some cheap monstrosity from the middle-east.
The new one is average, at best.

nothing is worse than the current Penn Station, replacing one of the finest architectural beauties on the planet, the former Penn Station.

Wish it was going to be though, that grey, blank concrete is so ugly that.....well let's just say there is a reason we stopped using it for skyscrapers after the 70's and leave it at that.

It's not even grey, either. It's white. Plus, it's not tall enough yet for real light to hit it, so it looks a bit darker than it is.

And to be honest, most 70s buildings, I've seen (apart from mid-rise apartments in Europe) use either stone, brick, or metal/glass cladding. Even the Verizon Building uses stone cladding. This is one of the rare ones I've seen that use pure concrete for cladding.

The marble should have been cleaned, not replaced.

It was art deco PLUS post modernism, and it didn't suite either to the fullest extent but was much better than what we have now. Plus it was out of the ordinary, and stood out in a good way, unlike the current building which stands out in a bad way. It's good to be different yet still fit in NYC. Was it the greatest building? NO. Was it under appreciated? YES. Do I understand why they renovated it? YES
