Why not build it in Edmonton?

~60 storeys is appropriate nextdoor to Rosedale subway station.

Was bored at work today so I started to work on a super-tall idea I've been thinking of. Currently 116 floors, I still want to make a podium and adjust the penthous levels so it should come on around 106 floors give or take a few. I'm hoping to comp it into a background to the east of the ACC.

Teaser image.

^Even as a midrise that would be a cool design for the Yorkville or King West area. I too am frequently--dare I say 99% of the time?--bored at work, but the past few months' have been so busy I've been too mentally exhausted to create anything interesting in SketchUp. Trying to find my groove again with another angle on

Oh here's one I started a few month's ago and kinda wanna finish it someday:

(Inspired by one of my favourite Toronto office towers: 900 Bay Street (Mowat Block)--proposed location: SE corner St Thomas Street and Bloor Street West)

And here's a quick massing idea: who's gonna win the game tonight? Probably ain't worth a

What software are you using?

I'll keep remixing this box until I like it--not yet

I do like the idea behind the Yonge & Sexy, which is why I'm stripping it down and rebuilding it into something sexier

I like this typology, and deemphasizing of the vertical. Try one where the cross bracing are single diagonals rather than X's, and responded to where cantilevers are, so that they look more structural.

^You gave me an idea ... but this slight remix of Yonge & Grenville--Yongeville Condos--isn't it:

Stack as many storeys as you can sell

But without balconies it simply won't sell in T.O.

Could another remix be on the way?

Nothing ground breaking going on here--just some simple window dressing selfies
1)concrete and brick

2)concrete and brick 2

3)precast concrete can look good

4)matte black with tiny LED stars = black star condos
