360 observatory opened their doors early for sunrise photo meet-up today.

Sagged a couple of Vista. Then tried to top it off and added glass for fun.

Thanks Nick!

Quick note, I didn't realize till Monday, but I don't think Vista will be visible at all from Sears' Skydeck. Standard Oil is in the way. (since I'm sticking with the original names)
The top of Vista may peak out a little bit, but that's it.

Yeah, the Aon Center is a much thicker building than one would think. It has almost 3.6 million square feet of office space. That's one of the biggest office buildings in the world, even today, 45 years after it was built. Overlooked so often when you think about it.

A bit of a bummer to see that it won't be visible from the deck... Just another reason that Hancock's is a better observatory!

It does as long as you don't include giant malls around the base in SF calcs.

Anyone who does include those in their calculations can be ignored anyway

Crazy to think about, considering how girthy Vista is. I suppose its width does taper off substantially once it crests over the 600-700 ft ceiling of LSE and the Randolph streetwall.

Too bad, such a showcase tower should be visible to all the tourists on the Sears skydeck.

I guess the view will be perfect from the future Aon obs deck?

What an unbelievably massive beast this tower is. I'm going to miss the look of the raw undulating concrete when it gets clad in glass.

I was at the Up Room in Wicker Park at that Robey Hotel or whatever it's called. Anyway, the view of the skyline is breathtaking, and the impact this makes is already pretty solid from there. Although it does look significantly slimmer than its supertall brethren in the skyline.

The amount that the skyline is stretching out west is really visible from there. In 20 years it'll look like the skyline goes from Navy Pier all the way out to Damen. No longer just a North South skyline ladies and gents

I wonder how long the lack of glass is delaying other trades

You can detect the shade change in the installed spandrel glass in this photo... it appears to be more subtle than I feared (hopefully), which is a good thing....
