^Roszak laid off his construction guy at the end of Linea due to lack of leasing on this project (their next development following Linea). Word on the street is the project will not move forward on spec and will need to have some amount of leases in hand prior to starting. That was a few months ago, maybe things have changed and they have signed some leases since. Also, perhaps anchor was not the right description, but a certain percentage of leases are needed to get this job started.

When are the next phases of Riverline supposed to start?

625 looks like a Milwaukee building. Not a bad thing. Like the height on the Van Buren too.

Is Nobu going to turn into a dead end? That would suck with the massive boom happening on the west side. Especially a project backed by a massive new york celebrity.

Holy cow, amazing shot!

I really wish Renelle was going to be taller. It helps to fill a noticeable gap in between Trump and Wrigley when looking from the Michigan Ave bridge.

They don't, he's a developer, he is the boss. The question is why any of these big name partners and operators trust him to execute on projects like this.

Interior demolition permit was issued last Monday for the Johnson Publishing Building (820 S Michigan Ave). Looks like the conversion to 150 residential units may be moving forward now...

That shot is incredible breezy. Keep em comin. And yeah i wish they would have put at least another 20 floors on it. Such a great waste of space. Unless their pulling a bcbs on us for the future. But look at that eyesore parking lot north. Im praying they do not still turn that into another 10 story mall. Give us something epic. As much as we like to joke, prime parking lots are going to be extinct in the next 2 dozen years.

To me the Renelle is in such a weird tiny spot. Even in renders it feels awkwardly smooshed in there. It would be nice to leave it as green space and fill the obvious gap of a parking lot right next door.

the (horrific) parking lot is spoken for as an expansion of the mall and maybe a tower

The foundations are already in the ground from the 1970s, the building can't go taller than what the existing foundations allow. It was originally planned to be a medium-sized hotel in Phase 2 of River Plaza, but never got built. To go taller now, Belgravia would have to tear down the parking garage of 405 N Wabash to put in bigger foundations, which will never happen since the building is condos.

People need to realize that not every site can have a supertall, even setting NIMBYs aside, this is a complex city with lots of infrastructure, historical agreements/contracts, etc that have built up over the years and not every downtown site will be suitable to build tall for various reasons.

At Renelle, I'm just glad the oversized car turnaround/flowerbed will go away and we can fill a hole in the streetscape on Wabash.
