^ The units at Riverbend were a tough sell, and the original developer (BJ Spathies, I believe) lost control of the project.

Does anyone know the history of the little Prairie School building that says "Lake Street"? What was its purpose? Does it still have a purpose?

It's a railroad control/switching tower, presumably originally run by Chicago & NW RR.

^Actually, Drink moved to what is now Carnivale building from its previous, and original location in the building at the corner of Fulton and Clinton (226 N. Clintion). Drink moved down the street to Fulton and the highway after their lease expired and the building at Clinton and Fulton went condo.
Riverbend went bankrupt and was taken over by either the bank or another investor...I think there are still some unsold units there.

^The building behind Riverbend is an apartment building developed by Fifield (called Leftbank at K Station), which owns a ton of property in the area. They are building two other apartment towers a block west of the building you are referencing...I cant imagine those towers would be built if the first building isnt getting any tenants.

It looks so much better. That height would draw alot of attention from people walking across the river.

i really, REALLY love the base of this thing. yeah, a couple hundred more feet up top would be so choice, but if we get a riverside plaza that's even remotely like what's shown in that model, this thing will be a home run.

^Maybe in the vicinity of 850-900 feet.

I envision this... 200 Riverside steps up from 333 Wacker, and a future Wolf Point tower in turn steps up from 200 Riverside, creating a pleasant sweeping up of tower heights at the rivers' Y.

Right around 800 feet would be perfect. I was just in NY, and the MetLife building at 800ft was an imposing terminator for Park Ave.
This proposal just needs 10 more floors.

I was wondering if you on Wacker Drive in the next few days if you could gets some shots walking west on the north side of the street. This site has an impact from the Hyatt all the way west. 200 N. Riverside will fill what is now a huge gap in the skyline. When you get even with Trump you get Trump, IBM, Marina Towers and then 200 N. It will look awesome.

Wow Chicago, you have done it again! Very nice design indeed. The added height renders above do make it look better but I say built it either way!

No, C&NW had their own terminal (now Ogilvie). The north end of Union Station was mostly for Milwaukee Road trains, so they probably built the interlocking tower.

Any word on possible tenants?

We all wish it'll be a new world headquarters of some company moving here, but my guess is another law firm looking to show off their new home in response to K&E's 300 N. Lasalle.
