Pictures from atop The Austonian

This is why you should go to a forum meet.

New Austinite and a longtime lurker showed up and offered to take us on a tour of the building he lives in, The Austonian. He took us to the top two floors, 55 and 56, where there are patios.

In addition to that spectacular view, we also went to the 10th floor, which has a dog grooming area, a dog relieving area, a giant pool and a movie lounge. It's also got a slightly different perspective on downtown since you're 100 feet up.

Then we wandered around by Shoal Creek and checked out some construction east of The Austonian.

It was a great meet. I hope we do another in the near future. I hope more of you guys show up too!

Oh wow. I'm kicking myself that I didn't get there on time. Maybe next time. It's cool seeing the roof of the W, the courthouse and Riverview Apartments on Riverside from that view.

I just remembered my thread from a few years back when Downtown_Austin and I went up there. I'd like to go back since a bunch of stuff has finished construction since then. It would be nice to go back up once the next round of towers get up in the air.

I remember in early renderings we all thought the chairs in the pool was a mistake, but apparently not. I was going to join you guys but couldn't get out of work. Dang I would have loved to have been there!

I'm less bummed out today about not making it on time. I went downtown today and took a trip up to the Hyatt's ballroom floor for photos of downtown. I hadn't ever been up there, so it was a treat.

And man, Barton Springs is RUNNING. People were kayaking down it above the pool area.

I was at Barton Creek yesterday and got a decent amount of good pictures. I really should make a thread.

Edit: I wrote Barton Springs. I meant Barton Creek. I was in the greenbelt.

Are we going to get to see the pictures from the Hyatt Kevin, or Barton Springs Haux?

And Haux, thank you so much for sharing these from the forum meet! They are great!

I uploaded a bunch more photos to Flickr, so I'll make a thread in a few days. It'll be an Austin photo thread, and I'll probably break it up into different posts from Barton Creek, the Austonian, downtown, etc.

Yes, eventually. We should be getting a computer soon. I have a ton of photos in back log to post.

Dude, you have been without a computer for months now, and we miss your leadership in the Austin forums. They're really cheap these days - maybe we could take up a collection?

Please add me to your charity list, my computer fried a few months ago and I'm stuck using my Sony
NSZ GT1 Blue Ray player with built in WI FI to log in and post.

^^ Ya, no kidding. DKR looks HUGE in that picture. They really did a bang up job on all that work redoing the north and east end. It looks fantastic now. Especially from the south like that.

Oh my. haha I just noticed that haux took a photo of us getting to the forum meet late. LOL. We're in the brown van at the stop light on 2nd Street, next to city hall. I had my bike in the back thinking that I would ride back home after.
