This has to be the most ridiculous thread ever. I love it.

By the way, I know this is off topic and may offend certain people, but I am a fan of bagel sandwiches. I've been making my own lately. One store-bought everything bagel (the kind you put in the fridge), fake egg substitute liquid, Costco sliced nacho jalapenos (come in 10 lb. tubs), deli ham, deli turkey, and a slice of American cheese. Toast the bagel lightly in a toaster, pan fry the meat and eggs with jalapenos separately with butter so that it sears the edges a little. Put everything together, smash the bagel a little and pan sear it so you get the bagel to finish toasting and the cheese to melt a bit. Add a lettuce leaf if you need some fiber and voilà. Don't skip the jalapenos, they practically make the sandwich. If you can't handle spicy, try diced bell peppers.

Yummy, except for the fake egg-substitute liquid. How about a REAL egg or two?

Yeah, you can certainly use a real egg, but you have to be careful to not overwhelm the sandwich with the egg taste. I like the fake stuff because it has a lighter taste and its easier to control the portion. I think that if you go with real eggs, Swiss or cheddar would work better than American cheese. Some black pepper would also be a good substitute for the jalapenos in this case.

Hell no.

Provolone.

In Philly, all the tourists and maybe like 25% of locals and natives get Wiz.

Wiz is terrible, wiz is complete crap, except on cheap nachos!

Provolone is the best, bar-none. Period. End of story.

I agree that Wiz is out right crap but for some weird reason I love it on that sandwich.. Funny thing is, cheese wiz is usually more expensive than traditional cheese which I still have yet to make sense of..

Philly schmilly. Yuck. Now, Doner Kebab, that's good stuff. As good as a Philly, minus the instantaneous heart attack. Do you know how long I've waited for a good kebab stand on the Mall? And finally, that one down by the Pavilions seems like it's sticking around.

I think that's because it's a petroleum product.

There is a kebab stand on the mall? How the hell was I unaware of this!?

Also, incidentally, looks like Suzy Q is gone.

If we're talking philly-like sandwiches, then I will take the Dubliner down at Darcy's in the DTC any day of the week.

Is that Pats joint still there on Market (underground)? I do love their Cuban sandwich... mmm... lunch idea.

So, question of the day: Is a hamburger a sandwich?

Why not? It's chock full of meaty goodness, perhaps some cheese, maybe some veggies, in between two pieces of bread/roll/bun. I'd say it's a sandwich!

Well then that greatly broadens our best sandwich discussion, because there are a whole lot of good burgers out there! Oh, and it gives this awesome thread another solid week of life.

Governors Park, with the tower of onion rings. About 10,000 calories, and you'd better ask for a fork and knife, too. But mmm.

Worst burger in town - Teds Montana Grill, no question.

Yeah it is. I go there to watch eagles games a lot.

The best burgers in town... Personally, either Crown Burger or Griff's. I go to Griff's far more often - the 1/4lb jalapeño meltdown with pepperjack and onions is pretty damn delicious.
