It's kind of funny. Here we are a bunch of guys talking about how bad/good a cosmetic store is lol. I walked by it it looked nice. Not much more to it than that as I don't purchase cosmetics lol

its more that it just seems so downmarket when all the bloggers said it was a new high end concept etc. the murale store has a high end look to it, this just looks like a shoppers drug mart with some of the high end brands not carried at all the outlets, nithing special and conidering its high end hood i expected somethng more

ayway some pics i took at park royal on saturday (aug 16)
new stores kate spade and michael kors, on the other side of kors will be urban outfitters

looking east

much progress and work going on

If you look at Lululemon stores many of them do not have big logos or branding. They may have just a blade sign or a tiled logo but no name on the store.

I can't see that new Shoppers doing very well. Mid-Block on a pedestrian dead zone of Burrard.

Drug stores have the potential to creat a lot of pedestrian traffic - more than high end luxuy stores - as a destination retailer.
It's more a question of making sure people know it's there.

Being near some hotels will help Shoppers. There is always something that a Hotel guest will need--toothpaste, shampoo, a magazine, gum, lipstick, munchies. That said, when I first noticed it during a walk-by, I was surprised to see it.

Boston Pizza has bought out the lease from the Japanese restaurant at the north/west corner of Smithe & Hornby. Apparently they will have substantial outdoor seating. I have seen at least four previous dining spots there and no one has ever utilized the covered space there before. Apparently they open in September.

Lululemon opens tomorrow. The older store was closed today as they were shifting merchandise over.

Dynamite is taking over the former Juicy location in Pacific Centre, it opens this weekend. They'll keep the
Robson store but are looking at a new location.

IIRC there haven't been any downtown in the past.

Both will be fairly successful especially because the late night spots are few and far between.

As per Retail-Insider Muji will be opening several locations in Canada and soon in Vancouver. I always pick up something at Muji when in London, it should do great here!

I've only been asking them (via email) since I moved from London to Vancouver in 2000...

I saw a sign for Dollarama at City Square
- facing 12th in a space with a Bikram's Yoga awning.
