Bucks arena opening to be delayed a year until 2018; work to begin next spring: Fascitelli

Quote:
"We understand that's an aggressive goal and that's challenging," Suski said.
However, Fascitelli said Tuesday the team will start construction in spring 2016. He made the remarks Tuesday at the Milwaukee Business Journal’s Downtown Milwaukee Renaissance luncheon at The Pfister Hotel.

Well, the fight is over...

City arena-funding deal signed, Bucks promise 'accelerated' construction

Quote:
Bucks team president Peter Feigin said after the Tuesday afternoon signing that the Bucks hold out hope to start construction soon and open the new venue by fall 2017.

When asked whether it is realistic that the Bucks will start construction this fall, Feigin said:

“It’s all how you define construction. There’s already been several million dollars put into pre-construction to get this in. We will publicly submit designs, get zoning permits and everything in the next 60 to 90 days and we’ve already started that process. It’s on schedule as fast as possible.”
Big day for Brew City and Bucks Nation.

Park East area prep work begins for arena parking ramp, other projects

Quote:
Work has begun to prepare the Park East strip for development tied to the new Milwaukee Bucks arena, a project that will create temporary traffic congestion for some downtown drivers.

Construction of both the parking structure and practice facility is to begin this summer.

The street, which replaced the former Park East Freeway, is a main route in and out of downtown — particularly during the morning and afternoon rush hours, and for events at the BMO Harris Bradley Center.
Bucks arena construction slated for July start

Quote:
Construction on the new Milwaukee Bucks arena in downtown Milwaukee is scheduled to begin in July, and a construction manager for the $500 million project is expected to be named in the next few days, according to Bucks officials. Construction is scheduled to be complete in August of 2018, in time for the start of the 2018-19 NBA season.

Sewer relocation work is currently underway, so construction can begin in June on the six-story parking structure, which will be located between Juneau Avenue, McKinley Avenue, Fifth Street and Sixth Street, just north of the new arena, said Marc Farha, executive vice president with Greenwood Village, Colo.-based ICON Venue Group, the team’s owner’s representative.

Exciting, looking forward to seeing the final design.

Any word on exactly how much of the surrounding developments proposed are going to be built in this phase of construction? I just wonder how for real it is that we would see 5+ blocks of Park East space bite the dust simultaneously for this project.

The parking structure with apartments/retail and the new Bucks practice facility will be a part of the first phase and built in tandem with the new arena. Both projects should actually start construction before the arena (June) with actual construction on the arena beginning in July. That will take care of 3 of the empty Park East lots right off the bat. I think market demand will drive the rest of the development which at this pace, might be sooner than the new owners originally planned.

Work is already underway but now an official groundbreaking is set...

Arena construction to begin June 18

Quote:
The Milwaukee Bucks have set a date for construction to begin on the team’s new downtown arena.

According to president Peter Feigin, the Bucks plan to start construction on the arena June 18, about a month sooner than previously planned. The team has scheduled the arena to be complete in August 2018, in time for the start of the 2018-’19 NBA season.

Construction also is slated to begin in June on the six-story parking structure and on the new 55,000-square-foot training center. Feigin also said the Bucks are getting closer to securing a naming rights sponsor for the new arena.

Quick update...The Park East is a construction disaster zone right now. After years of looking at all those vacant lots, this is so awesome to see. There's so much equipment on site and prep work being done.

Milwaukee Bucks prepare for demolition of three buildings on arena site

Quote:
“We’re still working with the city to gain the necessary approvals to begin site preparation work, including the demolition of three structures on the site,” Bucks spokesman Jake Suski told the Milwaukee Business Journal Monday.

The Bucks anticipate completing the demolition over the next few weeks so the site is ready for groundbreaking in June. The Bucks have scheduled a groundbreaking ceremony for June 18.

Demolitions, Bradley Center renovations set stage for Bucks arena

Quote:
With a groundbreaking ceremony set for June 18, the site for the new Milwaukee Bucks arena will soon see its three remaining buildings razed.

Meanwhile, the neighboring BMO Harris Bradley Center is undergoing renovations as part of that project.

Finally, work is finishing on the nearby Park East strip to prepare for construction of the arena parking structure and the Bucks training facility.

For anyone interested in following the arena construction progress, they put up a live cam which oversees the Buck's arena site (far right), Buck's practice center (center, foreground), and new parking/apartment complex (center, background).

Buck's Live Webcam

As a bonus, the view of downtown from the camera is spectacular and you can even see NML's HQ tower construction.
