Ever wondered why there’s a curb and crushed rock around the building? That was from foundation reinforcements. Remember the earthquake a few years ago? Place 2000 was supposed to be condemned and never was.
Isn't that building relatively new, within the last 20 years?

Looks like someone has bought up Franks. On Facebook there are signs saying they are closing early the rest of the week, and with a grand reopening in January under new management.

Just heard on the radio that a new space is opening up in Regent mall. Carlton Cards is shutting down when the lease is up in February and they are not moving elsewhere.

It's in a quieter end of the mall, but I'm sure it won't stay empty for too long. Other than the Sears space, I believe the mall is full.

Any bets on where that's going to be located?

The current hole formerly reserved for the Centennial Building?

Already a head start on construction!

This will be a new building as the proponent has stated that they will begin construction in the spring and it will be located on the south side. They haven't said where on the south side

Looks awesome. We frequent skip hop jump in Halifax and moncton. Those renderings looks bigger and more appealing to a broader age group.

Kingswood will finally have some competition. Still waiting on that water park guys!

To confirm an earlier post, The Second Cup at Kings Palace will close on Dec 24. It will be replaced by a new Starbucks tentatively sked to open the 2nd quarter of 2019. The Starbucks on Prospect will remain open and may actually be expanded.

The Second Cup owner is in decision mode as to if/where to relocate.

That Quiznos building that's been vacant for years would be perfect for them. Hopefully they don't decide to competely axe the downtown location.

There’s the former Reads space across the road that has been vacant for months.

I don’t see the former Quiznos going anywhere in the near future. That block has lots of opportunity for development.

Just saw that Savages (across from Kings Place) is closed after today...

...

... to do some construction. They are taking over the Dry Cleaners place next door and using the next 3 weeks or so to expand and renovate their entire space.

Nice to have some good news on the downtown retail front.

I admit, I'm a bit evil and intentionally did it that way.

The post in question:

Savage’s will be closing it’s doors tomorrow at noon; this will be the last time you will see our store in its current form. We are happy to announce that we are expanding our space! (This may be the worst kept secret in town). In case you didn’t know, we are taking over the old “BellBoy” space and will be completely renovating our store at the same time. We will be bigger and better than ever! We can’t wait to show you what we have in store! We are hoping to be open again by January 21 — if you need anything at all please email us or contact us via FB. Thanks again for all of your support. We look forward to seeing you all in our new digs!

Well it took him a long time since the restaurant was listed for sale at the start of the year, and I think that was actually a relisting from last year but glad to see Franks reopening, and keeping the pies on the shelves.
