Awesome pics folks!! So many cranes around town now...Tower crane at 55 Queen, Tower crane at Horizon Place, mini tower crane off Dieppe Blvd, mini tower crane at Dumont medical research building...I think the one for new Dieppe hotel is down now and not sure of status on Halls Landing II crane on Lewisville...in any event it's a great time to be looking up around here

FiveFive Queen is now planning an adjacent two level parking structure off of Lester, presumably for hotel guests at the Wesley.

Renders:

It's only a parking structure, but it appears to be well designed, and is certainly better than what's there now.

Here's a fresh floor plan for the ground floor of FiveFive Queen.

What's interesting is that when it is magnified, you get a good look at the proposed interior layout for the Gahan House restaurant.

- the outside patio is quite large.
- also, there will be a direct elevator entrance into the restaurant for hotel guests (and presumably residents).

Does this mean the apartment building immediately north of the current parking lot will be torn down to make way for this? Or does this all fit within the current surface parking lot?

Not sure, but looking at street view, I would say the apartment building is probably toast.

I think so too. There doesn't seem to be enough space there. It looks like it will be a similar design to the Marriott garage.

Also, I remember earlier renders showing a U-shaped footprint to the building but it seems like the north facade of the building is now mostly flat from the parking garage render.

It's very sad to hear someone will be losing their home and hopefully everyone can find a place to live. On a positive note, this will change the area for the better, even though it's a parking structure, it looks nice and will bring change the the area. It will be interesting to see if this development can be a catalyst for the area, less dilapidated homes is always a good thing.

Construction crane at FiveFive Queen reflected in the windows along the back of the BMO Building next to city hall.

Those aren't that unusual. I can think of a few places in town that have them. I've never seen an elevator with access to both sides from the same room though. Usually it's if the floors are offset from each other in a weird way.

Parking Garage

I see in the April PAC agenda that Spataro Holdings has applied for application for rezoning for a lot. The intent is to rezone 56 Lester, adjacent to 55 Queen, from urban residential to central business district to allow the construction of a 2 level parking structure.

It's a start, but the downtown core is going to need 4+ story parking garages!

I think the upper level of the garage will be for the business customers(55 Queen Street) while the lower level will be for residence, and guest No public use But I do agree with you on 4 Level parking structure. One, or more will surely be needed in the future. Potentially the near future if revitalization projects take off.

Also, the Lester Street apartment building has now been demolished for the parking structure.

Was it ever decided by the city whether the utilities were being buried or not on queen st. Theres reference to it in january meetings but no actual news on decision.

I see they are installing concrete light posts bases close to steadman but there doesn't seem to be any work being done that indicates they are burying utilities.

Would be a shame if they didn't but it was pricey like 1.5 million vs 100k or something.

I believe that is their plan but I don't know the timeline.
