What Skytrain stations have you never been to?

I was on the skytrain yesterday and i realized that despite riding it almost everyday there are many stations i have never embarked or disembarked at, only travelled through. I then thought it would be kind of fun for everyone to post the stations they have never set foot in to kind of get an idea of the most underutalized stations by the people on this forum

Expo:

Nanaimo
29th Ave
22nd St.
Gateway
King George

Millennium:

Sapperton
Lake City Way
Sperling-Burnaby lake
Holdom
Rupert
Renfrew
VCC-Clark

Cheers

I have never actually been on the SkyTrain. I don't really leave downtown, and when I do it's to places public transit won't take me.

Though I might consider taking the train from the airport to downtown. Maybe.

You have never been on skytrain? Not even for fun!? No Metrotown shopping or walk around historical New West? I guess we can put all stations down for you then, hehe.

I figure it doesn't really count if you're not going to/from a station for a reason (like going to a station for the sake of going to a station).

I've "USED" every station, though the ones I've used the least are probably:
Lake City
Sperling and
Holdom
Most of these times, I was dropped off at these stations when getting a ride from where I used to work.

Used to live in Surrey many moons ago, so I've used to/from all those stations, including Scott Road.

Used the New West Stations, including Sapperton (for the Hospital).

Have used Braid going to/from work.

As a destination I think for most people, it's hard to justify taking a trip to:
  • Sperling
  • Gateway
  • Lake City
  • 22nd St. Station
  • 29th Ave Station
  • Edmonds

I can't think of many reasons to go to these stations unless you work or live in one of these areas.

A list of reasons to visit each station:
EXPO Line
  • King George (End of the Line, Transfer point to Cloverdale and Langley)
  • Surrey Central (SFU Surrey, Surrey Centre Mall, Library, Rec Centre)
  • Gateway (dunno... to see the burnt remains of Quattro Phase II?)
  • Scott Road (Home Depot?, Transfer point for Delta and Ferries, Major Park n' Ride)
  • Columbia (Transfer to M-Line, Downtown New West)
  • New Westminster ( New West Quay, Downtown New West)
  • 22nd St (Transfer point to Queensborough, Richmond, YVR via #101 bus)
  • Edmonds (Nikkei Japanese Heritage Centre, Transfer point to Burnaby Museum?)
  • Royal Oak (Dunno, NCIX Computers?, KFC?)
  • Metrotown (hmmm...)
  • Patterson (Central Park, Swangard)
  • Joyce (Transfer Point to lots of places, UBC - #49, North Vancouver - #28)
  • 29th Ave (Transfer to PNE, Coliseum - #16, UBC #33)
  • Nanaimo (Transfer to UBC - #25)
  • Broadway (Commercial Drive, Major Transit Hub)
  • Main Street (Access to Heroin ::blech::, Chinatown, Amtrak and Greyhound, Science World etc.)
  • Stadium (BC Place and Gm Place, Tinseltown)
  • Granville (Downtown)
  • Burrard (Downtown)
  • Waterfront (Downtown, Transfer to Seabus)

M-Line
  • VCC (VCC, Transfer to UBC)
  • Commercial (Commercial Dr, Major Transit Hub)
  • Renfrew (Transfer to PNE/Coliseum, Closest McDonald's to the line? )
  • Rupert (Real Canadian Superstore, Petcetra, Close to Vancouver's 1st Wal-Mart )
  • Gilmore (Transfer to North Van - #28)
  • Brentwood (Brentwood Mall, Transfer to Metrotown, BCIT)
  • Holdom (Rev Bowling Alley?)
  • Sperling/Burnaby Lake (Burnaby Lake, 8-Rinks, Burnaby Rec Centre, Transfer to Metrotown?)
  • Lake City Way (dunno... Winner of the LEAST useful station award)
  • Production Way/University (Transfer to SFU, Used to have Costco, )
  • Lougheed (Major Transit Hub for Tri-Cities, tonnes of Korean stores/grocery, Lougheed Mall)
  • Braid (Transfer to Coquitlam, Ikea, Maple Ridge east along Lougheed)
  • Sapperton (Royal Columbian Hospital)

Seems that there are lots of stations that you can transfer to UBC.

Anyone want to do the RAV Line or make any additions?

What did you use Lake City Way for?

I'm guessing that Scott Road and Sapperton are a case of getting on the wrong train and ending up on the wrong line....

Having never lived anywhere near Skytrain, I haven't really used it all that much in my life. Growing up in the distant suburbs I used it once or twice when little (my first time was probably my parents first time considering when it was built) and two or three times when in highschool.

Since moving in from the suburbs I probably use it on average once every 3-6 months. I have been meaning to use one of my days one weekend to go on a Skytrain trek and check out some of the stops/take pictures etc but I haven't quite got around to it yet. I know I'll be using the Canada Line more frequently for sure.

It'll be easier to post the stations I have used:

EXPO:

Waterfront
Burrard
Granville
Stadium
Main
Broadway
Joyce
Metrotown
New Westminster
Surrey Central
King George

M-LINE:

Commercial
Renfrew
(both used once in order to get a bus down Renfrew to a Giants game)

Anywho, I look forward to familiarizing myself more with the M-Line one of these days. I've been really wanting to check out Brentwood Station in person for some time now.

You should ride it as an urban enthusiast. Skytrain gives you a good idea of the sheer size of Metro Vancouver. I never get bored riding it. Shanghai's subway, on the other hand, bores me to tears.

I've travelled east of Stadium station fewer than five times and I don't own a car. I went to Gateway in Surrey a few times for job interviews, but other than that I've had no reason to go farther than Metrotown. Never been on the M line.

I used to take the skytrain daily from Waterfront to Stadium but now I can walk to work from the seabus.

I can't imagine going any farther east on a regular basis. It gets so packed at Granville - I get claustrophobic.

^I think looking at this, when the C-Line opens, I'm planning to go to the North Shore more often. Traveling time from Richmond will probably decrease to 40min from the current >1hr. I'm pretty sure it'll compete with the car, because of the notorious traffic over the Lions Gate. Currently, I rarely, if ever go to North/West Van (with the exception to Cypress Mt to ski and driving through this area on the way to Whistler).

Just wondering. I think the opening of the Skytrain C-Line will open a new, and significant market to the Skytrain network. I think most residents in Richmond probably have never been on it, even most of them live here for over 10 years or so. Heck, I know a family friend living in Richmond stays in Richmond most of the time, and the farthest she's ever driven is Vancouver Downtown.

Conversely I can't wait to get to south False Creek/Kitsilano/Broadway quickly. Buses through downtown are a nightmare.

I have no recollection of EVER disembarking/embarking at the following stations (even once):

Expo Line:

- Scott Road
- Gateway
- King George (although once I fell asleep on the train, and ended up here, but I just stayed in the car during the track switch, so technically I didnt touch the platform)

Millenium Line:

- Lake City Way
- Renfrew

I guess that means I've used 28/33 stations. Oh, and I've used Bridgeport Station.

The Central City building is worth a look - during the day, that is. Can't say Metrotown is a huge priority for me. The old downtown in New West is also worth seeing, though I wouldn't count on any spectacular dining experiences there. Better, I think, to take a day trip to the burbs, and enjoy some of the amazing culinary experiences Vancouver has to offer at the end of the day. In my opinion, the scenery as seen from the Skytrain is alone worth a day trip.
