Jesus, it's taller than Bank tower. That would be amazing.

Obviously that tower is just a concept but what would be cool would be if it had a twin on the lot at 4th/Olive with a slanted roof pointing towards the other one.

M-Rad‘s newest project is located behind the infamous Bunker Hill site next to the Angel’s Flight vernacular in the heart of downtown, Los Angeles. With the flourishing densification of downtown, we have seen a lack of public green space as well as increased opportunities to develop mixed use buildings.

The architectural concept behind the Bunker Hill project aims to create a place for the community to gather in an environment inspired by nature while maximizing the potential use of housing, creative office, research facilities, retail and hospitality spaces. The tower will be elevated above the existing greenscape to highlight both the history and importance of Bunker Hill while connecting it to the streetscape of Los Angeles, blurring the line between urban landscape and nature.

^ It's just a concept at this point. The final design and height will likely be different in the end.

Glad someone is looking to put a proper project on this site. It's definitely a concept though. It takes no regard for the surrounding. This lot is big enough that a tower can fit centered between 1Cal and 2Cal. This concept COMPLETELY blocks 2Cal's south eastern face. No way will this go through as is.

Exactly! It's only a hypothetical, a concept and no where near an actual proposal. Still it's cool.

I hope that whatever ends up getting built on that site will have similar massing, meaning the structure be built to the sidewalks and gradually taper off vertically to achieve both greater architectural interest and height.

Agree but it's still showing a bold statement and as a trend, sort of what we saw in the bold designs (generally speaking) before the 2008 downturn.

This concept sure shows an aim towards more progress and an urban future instead of sensitivities of a downturning market. As our demographics and landscape change over time, initial concepts and final results will become less polarized in a cyclical pattern, in my opinion.

I mean yeah I am sure it will change, but there is no way of knowing if this or something like it will or will not get built. All we know right now is that the]city wants to build a very large structure there and they are looking for spec designs. I am sure many will get made, and I am sure some will be awesome and some won't be, but this was the first released and I have a hard time thinking a design better then this will come around.

As far as I can tell, this is just an architect fucking around. There is no basis to this proposal. It's a concept through and through.

Who cares if it takes regard of the surroundings?? Not everything has to look alike and preserve the "Neighborhood character" of Bunker Hill. I also don't care if it blocks Cal 2. By rule it has to be 80 feet away, but I would much rather have a bigger better tower than one that sacrifices to be sure views from office towers are maintained.

It's like Tower Verre took some roids.

Great black crow: maybe there's room for a what was called here at one time a ass hat? Good to know designs are being formulated.
The project "The Hills" seems to have dropped off the DT Development Map NE corner Olympic and Hill has there been a change?
Any word on possible sale of the Garfield Bldg. as it sits in the middle of all the current activity, must be price, and that will continue to climb for sure. Thanks for any feed back.
