Just because these are in another thread and not this one, massing image. I am excited for this project, because it kind of fills in part of the East end of downtown, and makes land between it and the core more ripe for development. More people in this area also means the international village will have more people and that increases desire to live near there. My hope is that in the near future Hamilton does not have to beg people to come live here, and people desire it as they would desire living close to Toronto. This development helps with that.

I also like that the sidewalks are wider than the current ones. Hamilton needs some wider sidewalks badly.

The parking lot desert Northeast of Hunter GO is just as terrible as the John/Rebecca one. It'd be nice to see something as tall as 71 Rebecca in the area although I think the storey limit is less on this side of Main.

30-storeys was the proposed limit between Main and Jackson, from Catharine to Ferguson, and continuing to Wellington for the Main St. facing properties (also the north side of Main from Catharine to West Ave.)

Between Jackson and Hunter, from James to Wellington, the limit was 12 floors.

Went past today. It's totally demolished now, looks like they're removing the rubble now.

There is a public feedback meeting about this tonight. Sounds like a community specific event, so not sure what it will be about. Anyone in the area going?

Despite the fact that development information is readily available most people have no idea anything is going on until demolition begins or a hole gets dug. At that point it WAY too late to do anything about it. Apparently the neighbours near 154 had zero idea anything was happening, hence the meeting earlier.

I'm sure they were all against it, or had "concerns" over the height. Despite the fact that this development is great for the area, and most of the homeowners in the area are sitting on goldmine detached houses.

Take a wild guess. It's a new development literally in the heart of the city on Main St, but it's taller than 3 storeys.....

As a Corktown resident, wish I was in town to argue for this, but higher.

Not having buildings of this scale on an Arterial road such as Main, makes no sense. More residents should be brought into the downtown core, and this will spawn more amenities, shopping and services.

La cantina across the street should get a lot of business from this project

..too bad they'll have to look out on a parking structure..

Wouldn't mind seeing P & A plastics and the dollarama demolished either - the short story buildings on the other sides of the intersection.. I do appreciate the 149 main st building though.

Is that two floors of retail in the podium or is that retail at ground and office on the second floor? Or is that a two story height ground floor retail which would work for a store such as Winners as the main tenant!

I'm not sure what is on floors 8-9 but I sure hope it's lit up like that.
Also, I love the new curved tower from Vranich....but now I'm wondering when we'll get our first angled tower downtown. The flat roof vibe is kinda boring for 2018.

It would appear to be two story height ground floor retail.

I wonder if the reason you don't see curved or angled finishes is due to the height restriction. When you can only build so high, you'd naturally want to max out occupancy all the way up.
