Are there any stats on the final height and number of floors on the Tower?

This article from last month says 30 stories. I don't know how you'd find out the height without contacting them and asking. It may be listed somewhere on the Seaholm website.

Not sure. I emailed someone with the City and he told me 314 feet. However, that height only measured to the main roof and not the mechanical penthouse. So it could be 10 to 15 feet taller than that.

One other height that I read in one of the documents filed with the City said 393 feet. So that's obviously a large variation of height, one that I would imagine involves design changes. I've sort of just been waiting to start asking for the height until it actually breaks ground.

I also haven't found the site plan yet on the city's website, which should show the finalized height figures.

I'm sure it'll be at least 300 feet tall. And from the renderings we've seen, I've estimated its height at around 325 feet tall or so.

Tower Design?

Was wondering what everyone thinks of the residential tower design (behind the power plant)...

also, should the power plant development and green water be separated out in this forum?

Agreed. There should be separate threads now for each project. It'd be too big an undertaking to try and split the existing posts up into 2 threads. We could lock this one and start 2 new ones with all the pertinent info of each project in post #1.

I'm thinking once the apartment tower at Seaholm starts construction we can start a thread for it so that we'll have a separate thread focusing on it. But really until the Green towers start, it wouldn't make sense to start a thread on Green just yet. We'll just about need separate threads for reach of the buildings I guess.

Just curious, why are these two projects in one thread in the first place? What is the relation between the two?

The news outlets were originally covering that area of downtown singly. They weren't covering it as one development, but most of the news stories/articles on it covered both Green and Seaholm at the same time. And it just sort of happened that we started talking about both in the same thread. So updates/posts for both were made to this thread. The Green redevelopment was even coupled with the Austin Energy properties.

There is an absolutely giant hole in the ground and they're beginning to drill the foundation.

This was taken about 2 weeks ago.

The apartment tower will be on the east side of the property. That's on the west side where the other building will be.

The hole covers the entire property north of the stacks--they just stared 2 weeks ago on that side. I'll post an updated photo at some point.

Photos from the last couple days. It's my understanding the hole is for parking at the apartment building.

The red piece of equipment seems to be boring a vertical shaft.

PS Has anybody been in Seaholm? Are the two large cement monoliths part of a basement or just a deep foundation?

I've been in Seaholm and a lot of it is underground. Just looking down from the floor level, it looked like it could go down 20-40 feet. I'm not sure why so much of it is underground, perhaps because of the water cooling and the intake from the lake? Anyway, I'm sure the concrete structures are part of whatever is under those smoke stacks. Since they start from the ground, I'm sure there is plenty of stuff underneath.

Interestingly, all that dirt they are removing looks like fill dirt to me. Probably from the first excavation to build the power plant.

Just wondering, what's to happen to the iconic City of Austin Power Plant signs on the building?

KVUE did a story tonight about dust complaints at the construction site at Seaholm. They show a few renderings of the project which we've already seen.
