It's good to see more steel going up.

If I'm not mistaken, the core is now setback from where it was currently. Is there any prediction on the average time it will take for a core jump? For example, people were mostly correct in guessing 5-6 days for each core jump on 432 Park.

No way will it be as fast as that...432 Park is a tiny footprint and a very different style of construction. I would be surprised if this jumps more frequently than every 3 weeks.

You can expect a full core jump every week or so. It only takes a day for the concrete to cure and they do the pouring in sections.

Does anyone know the distance from the core wall to the outside wall?

To me the core seems disproportioned to the floorplate and will get smaller once past the podium. This leaves very little office space per floor.

The good thing is this is all base work. Once the base is done it'll move faster hopefully.

3 World Trade Center construction nearing an end date

Steve Cuozzo
March 17, 2015

Quote:
Since Larry Silverstein got all his financing for 3 World Trade Center last fall, the project has appeared to some to be rising slowly above its 7-story “podium” level. But the pace is rapidly picking up.

The concrete core has reached the 14th floor and for the first time, steel and concrete are going up at the same time. Floors above 14 are basically repetitive, and by summer, the tower will be adding one floor per week en route to its full 80-story height.

So is Silverstein excited?

“How could you not be?” he laughed yesterday. “After 14 years!”

“The steel will top out in Decmeber 2016. By 2018 we’ll have a finished building,” Silverstein said. In addition to GroupM which has leased 500,000 square feet in the 2.8 million square-foot tower, “I’m very excited about activity now taking place” — which of course he wouldn’t specify.

“Beyond that, Tower 2 will ultimately follow,” he said. “And then we’ll have essentially finished the new World Trade Center.”

Construction of 3 World Trade Center, seen here in June, should be complete by December 2016

Distance from core to perimeter is 45 feet.

The core has already been reduced in size as seen on Earthcam. That west section was only for the trade floors.

Still very little space for offices, but I guess the big plus is that there will be plenty of natural light.

No, it's actually a lot more space than what it seems like... For a comparison, the distance from core to perimeter in 1 WTC is ~47 feet and tenants have a lot of space in it.

Woah, it looks so much smaller when you look at it from EarthCam's point of view. I'm glad that it is finally becoming noticeable in the skyline.

It's hard to tell - has there been a core jump since the last set of photos?
