The most significant change IMO is that the hotel room count went from 266 to 438. The fact that the change to the released site plan was filed so soon after it was released makes me believe that they have hotel operators lined up.

I think you're spot on. Definitely refining the hotel concept.

I've been hearing rumors of a possible Loews somewhere downtown, and wouldn't be surprised if this was it.

Man, this building has been all over the place with its heights. 504 feet, 402 feet, 356 feet and now 375 feet.

I don't mind the height, I just hope the design doesn't stink.

Can we assume this proposal dead yet? Magellan announced this project long before their monster Vista Tower project in Chicago. Vista is not only U/C, it is going vertical as we speak...yet nothing on this project.

Based on the downgraded size and renderings, I hope it doesn't get built - personally.

I agree. Honestly I've been underwhelmed with the design from the get go. They'll probably hold on to the lot and wait till a later building cycle if they still plan on having a presence in the Austin market.

True. Thank you. With their entitlement approval of the first concept, they have already increased the value of the land. Hopefully they will sell to someone intending to build taller and with more of an aesthetically pleasing structure.

Oh shit. Earth retention plans. A groundbreaking can't be too far away.

It lives!

EDIT: though there's no mention of it at all whatsoever on the Magellan website. Or anywhere else, according to google. I find it very weird that it would break ground with zero marketing push.

Die...please die. Let someone else develop something more deserving of such a central location in downtown Austin - not encumbered by a CVC!!!

Can we (SA) have it? It would rival our new Frost Tower in height.

Only if you take 405 Colorado Street too, in whatever form it eventually takes. But you know you shouldn't lower you standards for the sake of some added height in beautiful San Antonio. Austin doesn't seem to mind though.

YES...please. I hate the design. But, it is an improvement on everything that is being built now - save the new, runt-like, Frost Tower.

I really like it even though it is too short for that design. Maybe that is a Frost thing?!? Good design of its two best known towers - but, too short to make them "great." Having said that, maybe I aught to question banking with them. "Good ideas...however, they come up short on execution?!?"

0 for 1 is one thing. 0 for 2 is a completely different conversation...

This wasn't mentioned yet. But according to the AULCC meeting notes "construction" would be from 07/01/17 to 12/01/17. I assume that indicates the planned window for the groundbreaking.

Either that or this will be the fastest constructed highrise that we've ever seen...

Is it still breathing? Magellan filed for a permit in August to begin construction of the parking garage and open deck:
https://abc.austintexas.gov/web/perm...ertyrsn=120280

bKL Architecture tweeted about this project just 10 days ago:
https://twitter.com/bKLarchitecture

In the project info link in the Tweet it shows that a contractor has been selected. It's Chicago based McHugh & White.
