Well, that is some progress. I'm still really excited about this one.

A month after the last picture update, I thought there would be a bit more progress, but any progress is good I suppose.

No kidding. I'd be surprised if they were putting up a column per week.

This broke ground last August, and there were no underground levels to excavate. Absolutely amazing/pitiful. If I bought a unit in this place, I would go ahead and sign that three year lease at my current digs. But the three guys working this project have to be the hardest working MF'ers in Austin. I hope they don't get deported.

I saw the picture and I just thought there was a new piece of rebar or something...did not notice the column, so kudos to them!

This is so inappropriate... and not anywhere near in a good way.

I disagree considering the context. You might want to stay out of the Current Events and Skybar threads if that offends you.

Insinuating that someone is a deportable because of their ethnicity is never okay, no matter the context. Not sorry about it.

I second that.

Regarding the slow progress of this building, I'm curious about materials? We know there is a shortage of construction workers to the point that some sites are posting security to keep people from offering workers on one site better pay to switch to another. My question is does anyone know whether some building materials are becoming increasingly hard to come by? I've noticed multiple projects around that seem to be moving at a good pace one week but then slows to a crawl the next. It isn't just this particular site that's moving slowly, there are some others as well. Could it be because they are having to wait for materials?

Of course not. At least the way that I read The ATX's post was that he was using a bit of dark sarcasm considering the political environment lately with politicians calling ICE on protesters at the Capitol.

Exactly, many hard working men and woman from other countries face deportation under today's political climate which would be a travesty considering the contributions they make and the voids in the labor pool they fill, considering the labor workforce being spread so thin right now with all the construction activity going on. We need them, and welcome them. They shouldn't have to live under the threat of deportation. I think ATX was sarcastically saying 70 Rainey would never get completed, in my life time, if they were forced to leave. End rant...

Yeah, and that's not okay. Joking about it isn't any better than saying it in a serious manner, especially over the internet/text rather than in person.
