Actually I originally thought it was the view from the Westin DT -- which is also a White Lodging property of similar size. But the Westin DT view west wouldn't pick up the Courtyard sign. It would look over the 5th and Brazos parking lot and straight at the Bank of America building.

The Marriott will be looking west at parking garages and then at 111 Congress, as far as I can tell.

We've technically already seen a rendering of that end of the building, it's just that the angle is different.

Here is the rendering we already saw a while back. Notice that you can see Callaway House in the background on the left in the first rendering and on the right in the 2nd rendering.

If you notice, in the 2nd rendering, the other end of the building still has an AC Hotel logo in addition to "The Otis" on the south end of the building.

They definitely have. They also have a smaller Corner Bar-style concept in the new Marriott Downtown.

I like that this one is in such a prominent location. It's definitely one of the more interesting looking buildings in West Campus. The burger bar, as mentioned by H20, is definitely a good idea as well.

Clearly I haven't been keeping up with this one. This is way taller than I remember it being. I also really like the glass color.

I'm excited for this one. More hotels like this in West Campus means a shift from just student-residential development. I'd expect it won't be terribly long (within the next decade) until we start seeing higher end condos, or even some mid-rise commercial buildings being built here -- if every block isn't already taken by then.

I think we're well into that shift. It's an undeniable hotel submarket -- the ATT Center functions as the "convention center" (it has lots of meeting space, so can bring in large groups); and within a couple of blocks you have the Hampton Inn, the Doubletree Suites; soon you'll have the Autograph/AC (which represents higher-end rooms), and in the not too distant future, the Hilton Garden Inn new-build.

As the new north Capitol buildings get built, and as the Red River sports complex starts to firm up, I think you'll see even more demand for guestrooms in that area.

And it would help if there is a max height increase in West Campus in the future as well.
