I gotta say, I like the look of these projects that wrap around older buildings. It's nice to see the older structures left intact whenever they can be, but it also gives a unique look to the neighborhood and quaintness that wouldn't be possible otherwise.

I agree, and this is becoming pretty common in WC.

Here's another future West Campus development that will probably add to that 175' plateau. A pre-development tree permit was filed today for the 1900 block of Nueces. The permit says the project will be a multi-story residential project similar to 2100 Nueces (The MUZE).

It'll be interesting to see what replaces this.

As fugly as those buildings are, I appreciate that they're built with real materials....brick, steel, and concrete. Rare to see that nowaways especially in housing. Everything going up in west campus now is built from toothpicks and hardieboard. Which is why I kinda wish they would gut and refurbish these buildings instead of completely demo'ing them. Oh well.

Damn, I kind of like those buildings. I hope what replaces them is substantially better and taller. I wonder if they are going to be imploded?

This looks like another big WC project - I think it is anyway since it's hard to keep track of WC stuff. It's called "22Rio" and is designed by Rhode Partners. Rhode Partners' Villas on Rio Grande looks to be on the adjacent block next to 21Rio.

The site plan Ap for 22 Rio was updated and states that it is 23-stories. But until we get more info, that could mean 5 underground parking levels and 18 above ground levels.

That would be for the Standard apartment building. That's a significant amount of demo.

Speaking of explosives, the site plan permit for the University Towers demo said no explosives were to be used. I was really hoping to see those buildings imploded.

Speaking of implosion, did the Guadalupe Street Corridor Improvement Program implode?

I've seen no updates since they published their report in November 2017.

It rolled over to the Mobility Bond 2016 corridor improvement program.

Which basically selected no improvements for Guadalupe itself (if you really want to get me started, I can point out the errors in this process).

Were you not able to go up to the top? I had gone up there a few months ago, but they were doing some kind of renovation on the top level. I haven't been back sense, but in the demo video posted above, I saw a few cars parked up there.

This took awhile considering it's a small project, but the site plan for the Moxy Hotel was approved and released. Permits related to construction were filed shortly thereafter. Demo should be happening soon.
