I know, I know; just taking things to ridiculous extremes as a thought-experiment.

It's fairly unlikely to really take off like that because of the Mer Bleue conservation area, which is a huge buffer between developable areas. Without it, I think we would be seeing a stronger narrow band of growth along the 417 on the way to Montreal. Maybe we'll may see more of this along Highway 50 on the Gatineau side?

What would be good is if Ottawa had a very forward looking Growth Plan like the Greater Golden Horseshoe does, which would allow a more managed and rational approach to growth in commuter belt towns done in a measured and coordinated fashion. I.e. set a plan for how Embrun and Casselman will grow, but with conditions relating to infrastructure and growth elsewhere in the region, then hold the province to using GO Transit/Metrolinx in its second largest metropolitan area.

I don't dispute the political reality, but it's what would be best, nonetheless.

We need to find a way to move the Gatineaus (Gatineaux?) and Laurentians closer to Ottawa.

Yeah, very rare to find good photos of west end and downtown skyline combined in one. Quite a few highrises near parkway and Brittania Bay.

Or make them much bigger, and snowcapped.

I just stumbled onto this thread and aerials..Great job to all who posted them.

There are some great angles shown.

Also, I agree with the poster who stated that Ottawa really needs a water front..A public destination place akin to the Market, but alongside the Ottawa river, and near one of the bridges..I can envision a central spot for all the tour boats, water taxis, patios, rentals..etc. within a short distance from the Market..Topic for another thread though.

Definitely not taken on May 17, 2014, but still a nice photo.

I bet one could date it pretty accurately from the back pages of the Tribeca thread.
