There are no fins, it's an illusion caused by the perspective of the render. The building will be the exact same height as before.

What they appear to be doing at the re-entrant corners is interesting. Extending the facades just past and cladding it in some dark (red/brown/blackish) color.

Kind of changes the massing a bit, not sure if I like it yet...have to wait for the real thing...

It appears though that a "block" of tiles (two rows of four) will be replaced with one new panel. It might take a while to take them off but i would think not as long to install one new one.

Glass falls on busy Toronto intersection
Last Updated: Thursday, January 28, 2010 | 6:32 PM ET Comments29Recommend31
CBC News
Large shards of glass fell 27 storeys from a bank tower in downtown Toronto, closing a busy intersection for several hours.

The glass fell from the Royal Trust Tower at 77 King Street West at around 8 a.m. Thursday after a flying piece of wood hit three window panes on the 27th floor, police said.

The wood came from a scaffolding at the First Canadian Place building located across the street.

"It looks as if the scaffolding, as a result of the wind, struck three large glass windows of the tower, causing the windows to shatter," said Const. Tony Vella. "Some glass has fallen to the ground. Now, there's potential for more glass to fall because the windows are shattered. We're obviously concerned for everyone's safety

No one was hurt, but a police officer who arrived on the scene after the initial fall was almost hit by more shattered glass.

She was sectioning off a portion of the sidewalk from the public when some pieces of glass landed about three metres away from her.

That close call prompted police to close off the intersection of King Street West and Bay Street at around 11:30 a.m. Pedestrians and traffic were redirected throughout the afternoon.

The TTC also diverted its 504 King streetcars in both directions.

The intersection was re-opened just before 4 p.m.
