Yes, many sports bars were very busy for the game yesterday. There is no question TFC is #4 in this town for sports.

TFC and MLS check off all of the right boxes in terms of civic self identity for many in Toronto right now.

No one is comparing TFC to any of those teams. They're miles ahead of any other team in Toronto.

Do the teams take part in friendlies before the start of the season? And when does training camp take place?

Friendlies usually in January/February in Florida. Not sure what the plan is next year as Champions League begins in February.

Why only Toronto? MLS seems to increasingly be resonating with people in all 3 of our big metros.

To a point I guess - the reasons may vary slightly depending on the city.

Anyway, I mentioned Toronto because the discussion was about Toronto.

Ironic how TFC fans destroyed more of BMO than Argos fans have.

I am quite confident they left the pitch intact, though!

That's in the supporters section, no one was sitting down there. A lot of jumping up and down on flimsy plastic chairs, especially when it's packed to the gills will do that. Glad to see people in Regina are so interested in TFC!

Aren't TFC "Canada's team"?

It's a couple of measly seats, no big deal IMO. And congrats to the Toronto FC fans around here!

They do look really cheap and fragile. Not surprising that some of them would get damaged at a championship game where the local team won.

People don't seem to drink as heavily around here as they used to which maybe explains why it doesn't happen as much as it once did, but I do recall seeing some petty destruction after significant home-team victories in the past. It's just one of those things that kind of goes with the territory IMO.

Does Toronto media consider TFC a major league championship? i.e. The city's first since the Jays World Series. Or do they downplay, not consider it major, the same way they do for the Argos Grey Cup championships?

This was a few years ago. We were sitting with the Red Patch Boys and some dude went mental for a second after a bad call by the ref. Was surprisingly easy to rip the seat off. My friend posed with it after the game. The guy behind him was a drunkard who saw a good opportunity for a photobomb.

I've heard a lot of people celebrating it as Toronto's "first major international championship" since the Jays and would say the hype is bigger than the Argos was. I still think it pales to what a Raptors or Jays championship would bring, and obviously a Leafs cup would be apocalyptic.
