geneva, basel & dublin

great trip. geneva was pretty, demure, well-bred. basel was kindly, sleeply, an old doctor dreaming in his study. dublin was wild and wounded; loquacious, something of the martyr there.

i'll be back in geneva in november, along with paris. got to see if i like it at length. i could wind up living there.

dublin:

basel:

geneva:

Funny - looks like we shared a seat:

That place was a good time - right off of the Liffey, if I remember correctly.

Great thread - need to get over to Geneva.

Loved your dead-on description of Dublin. Quite the inferiority complex.

re dublin: it might be an inferiority complex, but if so, it's one of a higher degree than, say, that of canada. the irish are kind of an amazing people -- i mean, i'm a literary guy, so that biases me, but still -- the way with words. it's astounding. they form something of a natural, declined aristocracy. i admire them.

yeah, that was the merchant's arch! south quays. great band that night.
