Why have I never heard of this place? (I am from SoCal and travel to SF regularly). But zooming in to street level, the houses look cheap and hideous! What a bizarre place.

Florida has some really REALLY terrible suburbs, and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if there's worse ones than Cape Coral in the state.

Cape Coral from above:

And as for The Woodlands, it is not anywhere near the worst suburb. At least there's trees and generally a decent variety in home designs. And though it is by no means urban, it appears that some areas of the city are at least giving it a try, which is more than I can say about most suburbs. For example:

^ This area at least feels kind of urban. Granted it feels like more of a lifestyle center than a city, but it's something.... But my biggest gripe is: If they are putting the effort in to make a downtown type area (in the photo) why the hell is it so disconnected from the Market Street lifestyle center? If you connected the two you could possibly argue that its an urban area. But instead there's a four lane boulevard and surface parking in between them.... And they could have done the same to connect it to the mall, but they put two boring suburban office buildings in between - if they had first floor retail on those, it would work so well.
I started sweating just looking at those street views lol! No shade, no sidewalks....

LA probably has more interesting suburbs than anywhere else.
You want boring, visit Fairfax County, VA.

At least Milton Keynes inspired a pop tune in the mid-80s. Not my favorite of the Style Council BTW...

Phoenix metro is predominantly all suburb, and much of it is indistinguishable from other parts of the metro. But my least favorite are the outer suburbs stretching into the desert. On both sides of the metro, you see them squirting through gaps in the mountains that form our Valley. For instance, Surprise is a western suburb that has annexed enough open desert to get halfway to California.

Red line is city boundary if you can see it:

Current sprawl:

Future sprawl:

House numbers reaching nearly 30,000:

They have plans for an "urban" downtown:

But currently "downtown" is dirt:

And already the city council is divided, with some supporting filling in the future downtown with single family homes: https://www.azcentral.com/story/news...ter/382147001/

It's funny to me that for the planned downtown, they show downtown Beverly Hills, specifically Rodeo Drive.
