Any reason why? I've never seen an Apple store in a mall that also had an exterior entrance, but other than that the space looks good.

Remember it's also a renovated mall entrance too. The top level looks like an Apple Store.

I can tell its going to look something like the new West End Mall entrance, I would assume if it was an Apple entrance it would look like a typical apple which would be a simple grass curtain wall.

Good point. I don't think it's supposed to look like an Apple store from the outside.

I really think it's going to be like most Apple stores and the store will be accessible from the top level where the escalators used to be.

This was the recent one built in Waterloo (RIM territory).

I'm not sure if I saw this right the other night or not , I just caught it out of the corner of my eye driving down the road.. and I didn't really get a chance to see, but checking the website seems it is up to date. There is a new Pizza Delight on Spring Garden Rd. It looked to be in the spot where Mexicali Rosa's was?... confirm, anyone? lol

I was in HSC and Mic Mac the other day and made a few observations:

HSC
- Victoria's Secret's space is being prepped (the old Bluenotes and Stokes locations)
- "Apple Store" (mystery space) construction is going smoothly
- Thinkkitchen is now open on the lower level
- Fossil is opening soon (not sure how soon)
- There is another space being prepped beside the future Victoria's Secret that used to be more lower scale stores and the Head Shoppe that is relocating to a space beside Sears and Coles to form a new flagship location. This new space is about 5000 sq ft.
- Lush is opening on the upper level sometime this year
- The mall in general was much busier than Mic Mac
- A lot of lower end stores are having "everything must go sales", and are most likely closing
- A new Spa/Salon is opening beside Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory soon

MMM
- There are a number of new spaces being prepared
- Toys R Us is still open, I was told that their lease was ending in January so this seemed odd

I saw the Pizza Delight on their website on SGR, and it kinda confused me. I really hope The Dollar store will move out sometime soon, that end of the mall is kinda gloomy.

MMM and HSC both have different days that people go there. I find there to be more people in MMM on the weekend and HSC throughout the week.

What happens to all the stores that have closed or are closing in HSC? Not all closed because of poor sales. Is it too late to see a slight re-vamp of the Old Village at Bayers Rd. I know the majority is business but it would be cool to see some minor retail come back.

That would be cool. What would have also been good is if they kept west end mall as a mall instead of services. Formed the bay into a mall section did a big reno and all the lower end stores that are leaving HSC they moved over there.

I heard from a reliable source yesterday who claims to have seen the plans for the Apple Store in HSC. It will be one level on the top floor beside Sears. Apparently it will not be visible from the outside as the employee lunchroom will be at the back of the store (facing outside). Though they may put an Apple logo on the exterior wall of the mall.

I guess that's about as close as we'll get to a confirmation until the mall or Apple makes an official announcement (likely after the re-construction of the mall is done, and Apple can start to move in).

Interesting.

When i think Apple store, i think big glass front facade facing out. Lots of natural light. Modern.

Facing into a traditional mall is almost the opposite of all that.

Lots of Apple stores are like that. There are some interesting ones (like the Fifth Avenue store) but also plenty of standard mall stores.

It will probably end up being like the one in the Rideau Centre in Ottawa, which faces directly into the mall.

So I was in the Mumford Professional Centre (West End Mall) for the first time in months. Some noticeable changes I guess. It didn't have the ghost town feeling it used to have as more office space has opened up. You can still tell it was a mall but it is coming along. Once some more of the offices are completed we might see the revised food court gain some stores again. There are still places for retail too. Maybe that's a place where Dollarama and other stores removed from HSC could relocate of they don't plan to already.
