WestJet has just announced 4x weekly seasonal summer service from Charlottetown to Calgary.

Big win for the Island province.

No

This WestJet service is a summer seasonal service only for about three months, and is aimed directly at the tourist market (probably Japanese in particular, since they have a particular affinity for both the Rocky Mountains and the Island of Anne).

Yeah that makes sense. Kind of an odd route compared to what we usually see in the Maritimes.

Why is it an odd route? There are already 4 daily non-stop flights this summer from Calgary to Halifax. Last time I checked Halifax is in the Maritimes.

Great news for Charlottetown.

Great news for Charlottetown! Is it odd because it went somewhere else other than Moncton? I'm sure that WestJet does its homework on this stuff and decided that more Calgarians, or Japanese Tourists, wanted to see Anne over Magic Mountain . Moncton is well within Charlottetown's catchment area if someone wanted to catch a direct flight to Calgary. Just sayin .

While in Moncton we still have crappy Q400 service to Toronto.... Come on WestJet upgrade the dreaded Q400 with 737 service like Charlottetown and Halifax has. And please expand your offering out of CYQM WestJet or Air Canada.

The new second level airside bistro soon to open at CYQM apparently has a name:

This thing left the Moncton airport last night just after 10:00pm. Looks like it was schedule to leave at 6:15.

It’s nice to see the heavies in for cargo service but wish we had the heavies coming in with passenger service. But I would like to congratulate the airport on this feat.

I did too...at first thought it was a snow plow.

Apparently there is another big one coming tonight and another tomorrow or so I was told. One being a 777.

Fredericton will be getting schedule change on Rouge flights to Toronto as of May 1 2020.

Presently the direct to TO schedule is...

12:20 Dep 13:25 Arrival
18:00 Dep 19:05 Arrival

Changing to...

0600 Dep 0705 Arrival
1830 Dep 1935 Arrival

I think everyone will be happy to have the morning direct flight.

Also the Direct to Montreal Flights will phase out Bombardier CRJ100/200 (CRJ) and be Q400 and one 300. More seats, but more prop planes. I would rather have the extra seat capacity, so I can't complain.

Direct to Ottawa will be on a Bombardier CRJ100/200 (CRJ) rather than a 300 (Few more seats).

No changes to Halifax flights.

I just had my afternoon Flight to Toronto in May canceled and now says its leaving at 6am, did air Canada bring back the early morning Toronto for May ? now it makes me have a 9 hour wait for my flight to Florida
and Air Canada wont let anyone change their flights on their website :|

Air Can't-Ada.

Looking at the schedule on their website May 1 is when the change is to happen. Maybe hop to Montreal and then to t.o? I don't mind not flying direct.

I had one of my flights changed from a 520 an departure to a 1800 (the previous day) recently. I bothered them into upgrading my flights.

That would be my plan but their website is not allowing changes and you can not contact air Canada without waiting on hold for 2-3 hours. if you check on their facebook page its pretty bad everyone is having the same issues

The wait time seems constantly over an hour for me for years. I even call at odd hours to try and get a different result. It rarely varies by much time.

May 1 also has Saint John flying rouge now.
